It was a great honour to be part of the Patriots Malawi as a member and I felt so humbled to be invited to grace the Cocktail as Guest of honour.
My presence was a symbol of hope and encouragement to hopeless Malawians who suffer silently from facial Tumours, deformities and other Complex Oral and maxillofacial conditions due to limited access to treatment of such conditions in the country.
I am pleased to appreciate that Patriots Malawi has filled Lilongwe with hope, patriotism and a shared sense of purpose as various stakeholders gathered to welcome a team of international and local medical professionals who have arrived to conduct a major Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) camping at Kamuzu Central Hospital up to June 5, 2026.
These medical professionals will be conducting transformative surgeries of about 50 Malawians suffering from such conditions; many of whom have lived for years in pain, isolation and hopelessness for failure to access the specialized treatment in the country.
It is my heartfelt appreciation to the Mwangonde and Fatchi families for organizing a warm welcome cocktails for the visiting professionals at their residence in Area 41, in Lilongwe on Sunday night.
I joined a collection of speeches by various speakers throughout the evening emphacising the importance of patriotism, collaboration and collective responsibility in addressing Malawi's healthcare challenges.
I am so grateful to the organizing committee, the entire team of Patriots and the Chairperson of Patriots Board of Directors Mr. Kamuzu Chbambo.
In his moving address recounting the genesis of the initiative and the long journey of building partnerships and mobilizing support to bring life-changing health support to vulnerable Malawians who would otherwise have little or no chances of accessing health care.
In my keynote address, i therefore, called on Malawians to embrace Patriotism not merely as a word, but as a commitment to the becoming part of the solution to the country's challenges.
As a government we are committed to ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality care possible.
We appreciate the growing working partnerships and organizations with various institutions such as National Bank of Malawi for sponsoring the camp which runs up to 5 June 2026.
It is our expectation that more Malawians suffering similar conditions will end their pain in silence and finally access the much needed treatment.
Let's therefore, be part of this initiative and support the cause to improve the health care services of our country through patriotism, collaboration and collective responsibility.
