It was a great honour to be part of the Patriots Malawi as a member and I felt so humbled to be invited to grace the Cocktail as Guest of honour.

My presence was a symbol of hope and encouragement to hopeless Malawians who suffer silently from facial Tumours, deformities and other Complex Oral and maxillofacial conditions due to limited access to treatment of such conditions in the country.

I am pleased to appreciate that Patriots Malawi has filled Lilongwe with hope, patriotism and a shared sense of purpose as various stakeholders gathered to welcome a team of international and local medical professionals who have arrived to conduct a major Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) camping at Kamuzu Central Hospital up to June 5, 2026.

These medical professionals will be conducting transformative surgeries of about 50 Malawians suffering from such conditions; many of whom have lived for years in pain, isolation and hopelessness for failure to access the specialized treatment in the country.

It is my heartfelt appreciation to the Mwangonde and Fatchi families for organizing a warm welcome cocktails for the visiting professionals at their residence in Area 41, in Lilongwe on Sunday night.

I joined a collection of speeches by various speakers throughout the evening emphacising the importance of patriotism, collaboration and collective responsibility in addressing Malawi's healthcare challenges.

I am so grateful to the organizing committee, the entire team of Patriots and the Chairperson of Patriots Board of Directors Mr. Kamuzu Chbambo.

In his moving address recounting the genesis of the initiative and the long journey of building partnerships and mobilizing support to bring life-changing health support to vulnerable Malawians who would otherwise have little or no chances of accessing health care.

In my keynote address, i therefore, called on Malawians to embrace Patriotism not merely as a word, but as a commitment to the becoming part of the solution to the country's challenges.

As a government we are committed to ensuring that all patients receive the highest quality care possible.

We appreciate the growing working partnerships and organizations with various institutions such as National Bank of Malawi for sponsoring the camp which runs up to 5 June 2026.

It is our expectation that more Malawians suffering similar conditions will end their pain in silence and finally access the much needed treatment.

Let's therefore, be part of this initiative and support the cause to improve the health care services of our country through patriotism, collaboration and collective responsibility.

Together We Can

We take part to understand our roles and indeed understand the role that the Malawi Red Cross Society is Playing in our country and the World over.

It is against this background that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has urged Malawians to donate generously to the Malawi Red Cross Society to support its lifesaving work.

The President made the appeal today at Kamuzu Palace when he launched the 2026 Red Cross Day and Red Cross Flag Week.

I was part of those that attended the launch and as a Malawian of good will I am indebted to pledging my full support to this initiative.

In his speech, President Mutharika commended the Red Cross for standing with communities in times of need and called on all Malawians to support the initiative.

Leading by example, the President donated K10 million toward this year’s Flag Week.

Malawi Red Cross Society President Innocent Majiya thanked President Mutharika for the support and also appreciated the President for resuming the government subvention in 2018, noting that the funding had previously been suspended for 24 years (1994–2017).

Majiya said this support has strengthened the Society’s capacity to respond to disasters, promote health and resilience, and uphold the dignity of the vulnerable.

This year’s Red Cross Day is being held under the theme "United in Humanity" and aims to raise K200 million.

Can we imagine if everyone donates about K1000, will it be too far from M200 million? Let it begin with us.

Together we can keep Malawi Red Cross a Life Saving Companion of all times.

Today, I joined the Honourable Minister of Health and sanitation, Madalitso Baloyi MP at the Ministry's headquarters to commemorate World Malaria Day under the theme, "Driven to End Malaria; Now we can, Now we must."

The Commemoration started with a procession of Big Walk from the Reserve Bank of Malawi at the City center, to the Capital Hill.

The Honourable Minister has since asked all malawians to join hands and pledge their support towards eradicating Malaria.

Malaria continues to threaten lives including that of Children.

I therefore, call upon everyone to always report signs and symptoms of Malaria to the hospital and receive early treatment.

Remember to also drain the swamps around our homes to deter further bleeding of the Malaria causing Mosquitoes.
