All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.

This year Youth to Youth Empowerment Network Joins the rest of the world in making a difference in others and the world.

We believe access to quality education remains a challenge in our society and thus left a lot of young people vulnerable to different social and economic shocks in the future. As part of good deeds Day we are calling upon all well wishers to join us through donating a book/books or any learning materials.

The books will be donated in 3 schools of northern, central and southern region, tentatively on 28 March 2020

A single book can go a very long way. Choose to do good today

Each one Can Teach One

Tingathe is a Malawian NGO which partners with the most vulnerable youth in the country and trains them in vocational skills (bricklaying, carpentry, hospitality and service management, etc.). Tingathe covers all course fees for its participants and, when they graduate from their program, Tingathe helps them either start up their own businesses in their communities or helps them find work in Malawi.
Tingathe’s students, coming from the most vulnerable backgrounds in the country, often have trouble affording travel to and from class/practicals on a daily basis. On top of that, transport is often unreliable. Therefore, in 2019, Tingathe is raising money to purchase their own bus, which will ensure that the 70 students of the current Tingathe Training Program cohort never miss class! In the long-term, this bus will ensure that over 400 students in the next two years will have access to their life-changing programs!
Tingathe believes that, when given sufficient tools, youth can be to become agents of socioeconomic change in their communities! The deadline for this fundraising drive is June 28th, 2019.
More information on Tingathe can be found here www.tingathemw.org and here https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/bring-70-malawian-youth-to-school/

Meet our Woman Crush Wednesday

21 years old Towera Ngwira is a final year student at the University of Malawi the Polytechnic, pursuing bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health. Driven by the desire to see change in the society, in 2015 she started an organization known as Extra Mile Development Foundation (EMDEF). Extra Mile exists to improve economic, nutrition, health and educational status of vulnerable young people in Malawi. Currently operating in Mzuzu and Blantyre.

Recently the organization in which Towera is the Director organized a writing competition that targeted 50 standard 8 students, at Thandazga Primary School in Mzuzu. The competition aimed at encouraging and improving writing skills. Ultimately extra Miles wanted to motivate the students to work extra hard as they were preparing for their MANEB Primary School Leaving Certificate Examinations

Through mentorship sessions that aim at achieving quality education and health for all in Malawi, extra miles have reached more than 2000 young people. And they are expecting to improve the lives of 5000 children across the country by December 2019. Through Extra Miles Towera and her team of 20 unpaid volunteers have inspired 60 girls at Mlambalala Primary School in Chitawira, Blantyre by providing them with information on menstrual health and hygiene management and donated sanitary pads to the changing room at the school in order to keep girls in school.
