Between 24–29 April, we convened stakeholders across all three regions of Malawi to gather perspectives on the development of a National Digital Roadmap for the Cultural and Creative Industries.

These consultations brought together artists, creative entrepreneurs, cultural institutions, policymakers, and other ecosystem actors to reflect on how Malawi’s cultural and creative sector can better harness digital technologies for creation, distribution, visibility, and economic growth.

The regional dialogues are a critical milestone in the roadmap development process, helping to ensure that the strategy is grounded in the lived realities, opportunities, and challenges of the sector across the country. Insights from these consultations will inform a nationally owned framework to strengthen the digital transformation of the creative economy in Malawi.

The roadmap is being developed by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, with technical and financial support from UNESCO, as part of broader efforts to enable a more resilient, innovative, and globally connected cultural sector.

Grateful to all stakeholders who contributed their time, insights, and experiences to this important conversation on the future of Malawi’s creative economy.
