Today marks a monumental step forward for Malawi's agricultural sector with the official launch of the National Agriculture Extension and Advisory Services Policy (NAEASP) 2025-2030!

This transformative blueprint is a powerful commitment to empowering our farmers and driving sustainable growth in the nation's economic backbone.

The NAEASP is rooted in the fundamental belief that knowledge is power, and it champions universal access to vital agricultural advancements for every farmer, regardless of gender, age, or location. This policy prioritizes:

* Professionalizing our extension workforce to deliver high-quality, expert advice.
* Strengthening farmer organizations to operate as robust business entities.
* Embracing modern innovations like ICTs, digital agriculture, and climate-smart practices to boost productivity and resilience.
* Promoting market-oriented production and structured marketing to enhance income generation.
* Empowering youth and ensuring the meaningful inclusion of women and vulnerable groups in the agricultural value chain.
* Enforcing quality through robust regulation, monitoring, and evaluation aligned with national and international development goals, including Malawi 2063, the MIP-1, SDGs, CAADP, and Agenda 2063.

This landmark policy outlines seven strategic priorities:
* Agriculture Extension Capacity Development
* Knowledge Management
* Farmer Organization and Empowerment
* Commercialization and Market Linkages
* Food and Nutrition
* Youth in Agriculture Development
* Addressing cross-cutting issues such as gender, climate change, and social inclusion.

The successful implementation of the NAEASP will be driven by ICT-based delivery systems, continuous staff professionalization, nutrition-sensitive interventions, strategic private sector engagement, climate-smart agriculture adoption, and rigorous monitoring and evaluation.

The Government of Malawi is fully committed to realizing this vision. We will strengthen extension platforms, align budgets, mobilize development partners, and forge sustainable private sector partnerships. A robust Monitoring and Evaluation framework will ensure transparency and accountability.

We extend our sincere gratitude to IFAD for their invaluable support in printing this crucial policy document.

This transformative policy would not have been possible without the proactive leadership and unwavering commitment of President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera. His vision for a thriving and modern agricultural sector is the driving force behind this pivotal initiative. President Chakwera's administration has demonstrated exceptional foresight in prioritizing the needs of our farmers and laying the foundation for a truly transformed agricultural landscape in Malawi.
