A delightful visit by the Grade 2 children and teachers of Loreto Junior School, Curepipe, accompanied by the Principal, Mrs Jacqueline Raboude.

💫 Energy, curiosity and genuine warmth at their very best! ❤️

[📸Photos] Meaningful exchanges, shared values and a common commitment to peace reaffirmed as President Gokhool marked the Opening of the International Council Meeting 2026, co-hosted by Religions for Peace International and the Council of Religions - Mauritius, this morning.

President Gokhool met with eminent faith leaders, religious scholars and delegates from more than 44 countries, who have gathered in Mauritius for this important international conference held under the theme "Forging Pathways for Shared Sacred Flourishing."

This three-day international conference unites senior representatives of major faith traditions and international organisations dedicated to interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding and the promotion of human dignity.

They come together to foster greater understanding, strengthen solidarity among communities, and address some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity today, including armed conflict, climate devastation, unsustainable debt and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence.

As a nation renowned for its rich cultural diversity and harmonious coexistence, Mauritius is honoured to host this global gathering and to contribute to strengthening dialogue among people, cultures and faiths. 🇲🇺✨️♥️🤝

[📸Photos] 💗 teaching us a million things about resilience, strength and grace with just one warm smile, as we welcomed breast cancer survivors from the Breast Cancer Care Centre of Vacoas for their visit today.

A remarkable group of women from Mauritius and Rodrigues, who brought with them warmth, courage and an uplifting spirit that filled the morning.

It was a real pleasure to share this moment together and to recognise the journey, strength and hope each of them represents.

Thank you to Ms Shamima Patel, Founder - President of Breast Cancer Care, for her leadership and dedication, and to every survivor for their presence, positivity and inspiration.

Some moments are a simple yet profound reminder of strength, resilience and humanity.

This was one of them. ✨

: 75 years ago, at the age of just 20, Eden Balgobin founded a school in a modest garage in Rose Hill with a simple yet transformative ambition: to make secondary education accessible to all.

Today, that ambition lives on through Eden College Boys and Eden College Girls, institutions that have educated generations of Mauritians and helped shape countless success stories across our Republic and beyond.

What a great joy for President Dharambeer Gokhool and First Lady Mrs Brinda Gokhool to grace the celebrations marking the 75th Anniversary of Eden College today.

We pay tribute to the late Eden Balgobin, whose unwavering belief in the power of education opened doors of opportunity for thousands of young Mauritians and transformed lives, families and communities.

We also salute Mrs Lalita Balgobin, whose resilience, dedication and leadership ensured the continuation of that noble mission, as well as the Balgobin family for faithfully carrying forward this remarkable legacy.

The story of Eden College reminds us that one person's determination, guided by service and purpose, can transform lives, strengthen communities and help build a nation.

Our heartfelt congratulations go to the management, rectors, teachers, non-teaching staff, students, alumni and all those who have contributed to the success of Eden College over the past 75 years.

May the College continue to inspire, educate and empower future generations for many decades to come.

🇲🇺 As One People, As One Nation. ✨️

📸 Photos | Excellence, resilience and heartfelt conversations on full display this morning as President Gokhool graced the Prize Giving Ceremony of Royal College Curepipe!

Congratulations to all five laureates (HSC Batch 2025), as well as all those ranked just after the laureates and every student who secured prizes across various fields.

Big shoutout to Miss Sania Bibi Khodabux, making history as the first female laureate of the institution!

A powerful milestone for gender-inclusive excellence. 💫♀️

A special word of appreciation goes to those who worked tirelessly, gave their best, and showed real determination - even if they didn’t make it to the podium this time.

Drawing on his long experience in education, President Gokhool encouraged young people to keep learning, embrace innovation responsibly and with integrity, and stay rooted in service to the nation and their communities.

He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Rector Mr Ajay Kumar Bissoonauth; teachers, non-teaching staff, PTA, parents, families, alumni, and all those who continue to shape the legacy of RCC.

[📸 Photos] Ambassador of Portugal presents credentials to President Gokhool 🇲🇺 🇵🇹

His Excellency Mr Jorge Manuel da Cunha Monteiro, Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal to the Republic of Mauritius, presented his credentials to His Excellency President Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K., at State House today.

He was accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Clara Monteiro.

During the meeting, the longstanding and cordial bilateral relations between Mauritius and Portugal, formally established in 1976, were reviewed.

Discussions also focused on existing cooperation in key sectors such as commerce and tourism. Avenues for further strengthening collaboration in emerging areas of mutual interest, including renewable energy and blue economy, were explored.

In this regard, Portugal’s notable progress in the renewable energy sector was highlighted, with more than 80 per cent of electricity generated in January 2026 coming from renewable sources.

Its National Ocean Strategy 2021- 2030, focused on the blue economy and marine conservation, and the early achievement of its marine protection targets were also noted as encouraging examples of sustainable ocean governance.

Particular emphasis was placed on the Consultation Mechanism between the Government of the Republic of Mauritius and the Government of the Republic of Portugal, established in 2024 as a structured framework for regular official consultations to advance institutional cooperation in mutually agreed fields.

President Gokhool also congratulated Portugal on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

On the sidelines of the meeting, exchanges focused on sport as a unifying force that brings people together across borders, highlighting Portugal’s strong international presence in football, with global icons such as Eusébio da Silva Ferreira and Cristiano Ronaldo cited as examples of the enduring cultural impact of sport in strengthening people-to-people ties.
