His efforts honor Luxembourg’s historic government-in-exile in Montreal during WWII and aim to strengthen bilateral relations, cultural diplomacy, and research collaborations.

In February 2026, Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden met Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss international law, NATO collaboration, and joint defence projects. Over recent months, Luxembourg and Canadian officials have worked closely on defence and security initiatives, including the NATO-Private Sector Engagement (NPSE) missions and the creation of the multilateral Sovereign-backed Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB).
