Grand Kru Senatorial Aspirant John B. Chea Presents L$1 Million to Barclayville General Market Association

BARCLAYVILLE, Grand Kru County – July 28 ( Grand Kru TV)-Prominent Grand Kru son and senatorial aspirant John B. Chea has donated L$1 million to the Barclayville General Market Association in response to repeated appeals from local marketers for financial and infrastructure support.

The presentation ceremony was held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the Barclayville General Market, and was attended by market leaders, local officials, marketers, and community members.

Presenting the donation on behalf of Mr. Chea, Theophilus Gipply said the contribution fulfills a commitment made after Mr. Chea met with marketers and listened to their concerns.

He clarified that the money is not a loan, contrary to rumors circulating in the community, but a direct contribution intended to support projects identified and agreed upon by the marketers themselves.

The L$1 million was formally presented to Mrs. Fanta Kollie, Superintendent of the Barclayville General Market, who received the funds on behalf of the association.

Speaking during the program, Madam Kollie expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Chea for responding to the needs of the marketers. She pledged that the money would be managed transparently and used for projects that will improve conditions at the market and benefit all vendors.

Several marketers also commended Mr. Chea for his continued commitment to the development of Grand Kru County. They cited his previous support, including the construction of a cold storage facility in Barclayville, which has improved access to frozen chicken, fish, and other perishable goods for residents and local businesses.

The marketers expressed hope that the latest donation will help address some of the market’s pressing infrastructure needs and further strengthen trading activities in Barclayville.

During a recent presentation of local farming materials to the Dioh, Jloh Community in Grand Kru County, Hon. Chea demonstrated his continued commitment to supporting local farmers and addressing the community's needs.

The items presented, as shown in the picture below, included; cutlasses, rain boots, files, and grinding stones.

Last Friday, April 17, 2026, marked a significant milestone for the Pinicess Community, as the Friends of Hon. Chea officially broke ground for the construction of a modern three-Classroom annex, at the Gbeta Jr. High School.

Demonstrating his unwavering commitment to community development, Hon. Chea immediately donated 60 bags of cement, steel rods, and essential construction tools to ensure that work begins without delay. His swift action highlights a results-driven leadership focused on delivering real solutions to the people.

In an expression of heartfelt gratitude, the Principal of Gbeta Junior High School praised Hon. Chea for what he described as a timely and transformative intervention. He emphasized that the new annex will provide students with a valuable opportunity to complete their secondary education within their own community, eliminating the need to travel elsewhere.

Yesterday marked a significant milestone, as the people of the Zoloken Community officially presented their son, Hon. John Chea, to the people of Wedabo for endorsement to contest in the upcoming senatorial election. The meeting was held in Monrovia, Barnesville–Kessely Boulevard.

Following the presentation, the people of Wedabo wholeheartedly accepted and endorsed Hon. Chea to contest the senatorial election in 2029. They expressed strong confidence in his ability to serve in the best interests of Grand Kru County, working collaboratively with his colleagues.

The incoming Senator of Grand Kru County, Hon. John Chea, continues to demonstrate practical leadership and genuine commitment to the people of Grand Kru. On January 13, 2026, he met with the technical staff of the Grand Kru County teams at the residence of Mr. Joe Segbeh in Monrovia.

During the meeting, Hon. Chea commended the teams through their leaders for the hard work done so far, and reaffirmed his unwavering support for sports development and youth empowerment across the county. As a clear demonstration of leadership beyond words, he made an additional financial contribution of USD 1,000.00. This comes after an earlier contribution of USD 700.00, along with the donation of twelve (12) sets of jerseys to the twelve transitional sections during a county preparatory tournament.

What stands out is that Hon. John Chea continues to invest in the growth of Grand Kru County even without holding public office. His actions reflect a leader who prioritizes service over position and development over politics.
