Superintendent Sleweon Updates Public on Sinoe’s Development Progress and Governance Priorities

The Superintendent of Sinoe County Local Government, Hon. Alexander Nah Sleweon Sr., has provided the public with updates on key development projects, education priorities, community initiatives, and governance matters affecting the county.
The updates were provided during a press conference convened by the Office of the County Superintendent on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the County Administration Building Conference Hall.
During Superintendent Sleweon opening statement, he expressed appreciation to the Sinoe County Legislative Caucus, County Leadership, Line Ministries, Agencies and Commissions, and the people of Sinoe County for their continued support and coordination toward the county’s development.
EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:
Superintendent Sleweon emphasized that education should go beyond acquiring certificates and should serve as a practical tool for solving community problems and contributing to local development.
He encouraged young people and citizens across Sinoe to use the knowledge and skills gained through education to improve their communities and contribute meaningfully to the county’s progress.
Preparations are also underway for the Sinoe County Education Symposium, which is expected to be convened soon.
The symposium will provide an opportunity for education stakeholders to examine challenges within the sector and develop practical strategies for improving education across the county.
DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS AND INFRASTRUCTURE:
The County Administration reported progress on several projects, including:
1. Sinoe County Administration Building: Renovation has been completed, and the facility is awaiting official dedication. The project was funded through the County Development Fund at a cost of USD 62,625.88 (Sixty-Two Thousand, Six Hundred Twenty-Five United States Dollars and Eighty-Eight Cents).
2. Chief Compound: Renovation has been completed, with dedication expected soon. The project was funded through the County Development Fund at a cost of USD 35,799.00 (Thirty-Five Thousand, Seven Hundred Ninety-Nine United States Dollars).
3. Greenville City Hall: Modernization and renovation works are ongoing to improve the facility and enhance its functionality.
4. Superintendent’s Compound Fencing: Construction is nearing completion and is expected to be dedicated soon.
5. Johnstone Street Twin-Culvert Bridge: Construction is ongoing and is expected to improve drainage, accessibility, and movement within the area.
The County Administration also reported that the Pyne Town–Grand Gedeh land dispute has been addressed.
SINOE ONE-DOLLAR RALLY INITIATIVE:
Superintendent Sleweon announced that the Sinoe One-Dollar Rally Initiative project in Downtown Community, Greenville City, is now accessible for public use and expressed appreciation to the contributors who supported the initiative.
Superintendent Sleweon also clarified that the initiative is managed by individuals outside the direct leadership structure of the County Administration, while the Administration plays a supervisory role in relation to fund generation and expenditure.
He further disclosed that preparations are underway for the next project under the initiative and encouraged citizens to continue contributing their one dollar toward projects that can help transform Greenville.
LAND RESTORATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT:
Superintendent Sleweon re-emphasized the plan to establish a Greenville Land Restoration Committee to support efforts aimed at restoring and improving degraded areas within the city.
The committee is expected to be appointed shortly, after which its membership, responsibilities, and mandate will be communicated to the public.
GOVERNANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY:
Superintendent Sleweon announced that 230 Chiefs have been approved for placement on the Government payroll, a development expected to strengthen traditional leadership and local governance structures.
On matters relating to accountability, the Administration stated that it will continue to facilitate all necessary procedures concerning the General Auditing Commission (GAC) review and audit matters associated with the previous County Administration.
Superintendent Sleweon emphasized that the process will be handled through the appropriate institutional procedures and in accordance with applicable government policies and regulations.
BUILDING ON PREVIOUS DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS:
Superintendent Sleweon acknowledged the contribution of former County Superintendent Peter Wleh Nyensweh, particularly for initiating contracts involving the Greenville City Hall, Sinoe County Administration Building, and Chief Guest House, in line with relevant government procedures.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Sleweon explained that his administration subsequently introduced contract amendments relating to the modernization of the Greenville City Hall and County Administration Building.
Superintendent Sleweon further noted that projects initiated under his administration include the Johnstone Street Twin-Culvert Bridge and the fencing of the Superintendent’s Compound, among other ongoing initiatives.
He stressed the importance of building upon previous development efforts while pursuing new initiatives that respond to the needs and priorities of the people of Sinoe County.
