SPEAKER KOON WRITES....

Fellow Liberians,

I have taken note of the public apology offered by the Honorable Deputy Speaker, Representative Thomas P. Fallah, regarding his recent comments about my person and my leadership.

I accept his apology in good faith.

I acknowledge that in every democratic institution, disagreements and differences of opinion are inevitable. What defines us, however, is not the absence of disagreement but our willingness to demonstrate humility, mutual respect, and commitment to the institution we have sworn to serve.

My focus has never been on personalities. It has always been on strengthening and restoring public confidence in the House of Representatives, promoting transparency, improving accountability, and ensuring that the people's business remains our highest priority.

As Speaker, I harbor no personal resentment toward the Deputy Speaker or any member of this honorable body. I remain committed to working with every colleague, regardless of our difference of opinions, because the Liberian people expect collaboration, not conflict and solutions, not distractions.

I encourage all members of the House to remain focused on the enormous responsibilities before us. Our nation faces significant challenges that demand our collective wisdom, energy, and unity.
This is not the time for division; it is the time for service.

This moment should remind us that matured leadership is not measured only by how we respond when praised, but by how we conduct ourselves when tested.
In this regard, I have chosen reconciliation over resentment, institution over individual, and progress over politics.

May God continue to bless the House of Representatives and the Republic of Liberia.

I have been informed, through today’s agenda of the Honorable House of Representatives in Session, of a communication from Hon. Jacob Debee, Representative of District #3, Grand Gedeh County, requesting a “retraction and investigation of a public statement” attributed to me during my appearance on SpoonTalk on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

I wish to state clearly that my comments on SpoonTalk regarding my friend, Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, were made in good faith and without any intent to mislead, malign, or undermine.

However, in the interest of collegiality and respect for the Office of the Speaker, if my statement caused any concern to Speaker Koon, I hereby retract it and offer my sincere apology.

Speaker Koon and I share a longstanding personal relationship that predates our current roles in the Honorable House. I value that relationship deeply and have no intention of doing anything to jeopardize the mutual respect and camaraderie between us.
