Senator Moye Expands Humanitarian and Developmental Support Across B**g County

B**g County Senator Prince K. Moye Sr. has continued his humanitarian and developmental interventions across B**g County, responding to appeals from residents and community groups during his ongoing county tour.

According to Abel R. Okai, Administrative Assistant in Senator Moye’s office, the latest interventions are based on requests made by communities during the Senator’s visits and engagements with residents.

The assistance targets education, women’s empowerment, youth development, sports, religious institutions, and community infrastructure.

1. Veleyan Community, Konowolala, Salala District

In Veleyan Community, Konowolala, Senator Moye provided the following assistance:

30 bags of cement to support the construction of a sitting place for women.

L$50,000 as an initial contribution to support volunteer teachers who are not currently on the government payroll.

Five bundles of zinc to support community development.

Two sets of football and two sets of jerseys for young people in the community.

The support is expected to contribute to ongoing community activities while providing assistance to volunteer teachers and young people.

2. Gweeta Community, Salala District

In Gweeta Community, Senator Moye donated:

15 bundles of zinc to the Apostolic Lighthouse Pentecostal Church.

The materials are intended to support ongoing construction and improvement work at the church.

3. Saworlor Community — Panta District

In Saworlor, Panta District, Senator Moye provided:

L$300,000 in financial assistance to support market women and their economic activities.

50 bags of cement to support the renovation of the community’s market hall.

The assistance is expected to help improve the conditions of the market facility while providing direct financial support to women engaged in commerce.

According to Senator Moye’s office, the interventions are part of his continued efforts to respond to the needs of constituents and support community-driven development across B**g County.

The ongoing county tour has also provided Senator Moye an opportunity to interact directly with residents, hear their concerns, and identify areas where his office can provide assistance.

The latest interventions demonstrate a focus on women’s empowerment, education, youth development, sports, religious institutions, and community infrastructure, as Senator Moye continues his engagements with communities across the county.

His office says the Senator will continue to listen to community concerns and provide support where possible as the county tour progresses.

🇱🇷 URGENT ELECTRICITY CONCERN — DISTRICT #6, LOWER NIMBA COUNTY

Awake and help save lives in District #6, Lower Nimba County.

As a concerned citizen and Chairman of the Concerned Citizens Movement of District #6, I have observed a serious situation that requires the immediate attention of the relevant authorities.

One of the light poles supporting the transformer that supplies electricity to our district has reportedly been burnt for more than a month. Unfortunately, the situation has not yet been properly addressed by the authorities responsible for maintaining the area.

This is a serious safety concern. If the damaged pole collapses, it could cause significant damage, disrupt electricity, and potentially put the lives and properties of our people at risk.

We cannot continue to wait until something tragic happens before taking action. Prevention is always better than regret.

I am therefore calling on the relevant authorities, especially those responsible for electricity services in District #6, Lower Nimba County, to intervene as quickly as possible and address this dangerous situation before it gets out of hand.

It is never too late to do the right thing. Let us act now to protect our people and our community.

Senator Moye Rounds Off Week With Major Support to Schools, Communities and Women’s Empowerment in B**g

B**g County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. has concluded another week of humanitarian and community interventions across the county, providing financial assistance, educational materials, transportation support and operational assistance to schools, teachers, students and community-based initiatives.

The interventions, carried out between September 3 and September 5, 2026, also saw Senator Moye joining the Unity Party Legislative Caucus, including the Vice President and Speaker, for the groundbreaking ceremony of a Women’s Center in Gbarnga.

The activities highlight the Senator’s continued focus on education, community development, women’s empowerment and support for local initiatives across B**g County.

Women’s Center Project Begins in Gbarnga

On Saturday, September 5, Senator Moye joined members of the Unity Party Legislative Caucus for the groundbreaking of a Women’s Center in the Far East Community of Gbarnga.

The center is expected to provide a dedicated space for women’s training, empowerment and other community activities.

According to information from Senator Moye’s Office, the project was placed in the National Budget through his influence during the 2025 and 2026 budget processes, with a total allocation of US$250,000.

The project is being viewed as an important step toward creating more opportunities for women in Gbarnga and surrounding communities.

Support Reaches Taylor Town United Methodist School

On Friday, September 4, Senator Moye’s Office extended assistance to the Taylor Town United Methodist School in Yellequelleh District, where support was provided for repairs and improvements at the school.

The assistance included:

- Five bundles of zinc

- 25 pieces of ceiling tar

- 10 bags of cement

- Three modern wooden doors

- 30 desks to be repaired

- 50 armchairs

- US$300 for the repair of desks, armchairs and doors

- US$50 for transporting the materials by motorbike

- Five packs of zinc nails

- One TSF motorbike to support teachers in Funetoli

The intervention is intended to help improve the learning environment and provide teachers and students with better facilities.

Additional Support for Team Moye in District #2

Also on September 4, Senator Moye provided support to Team Moye in Electoral District #2.

The team received one TSF motorbike to support its operations, along with US$400 for operational activities.

Educational Assistance for Students at St. Martin’s Catholic School

The week’s interventions began on Thursday, September 3, with assistance to St. Martin’s Catholic School in Gbarnga.

Senator Moye’s Office donated 12 instructional whiteboards, 12 high-quality ceiling fans and L$150,000 to support deserving students attending the school.

The L$150,000 represents the first installment of a L$300,000 commitment made by Senator Moye to help provide educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

The assistance is expected to ease some of the challenges facing students and contribute to a better learning environment.

A Week Focused on Community Support

From education and school rehabilitation to women’s empowerment and community operations, Senator Moye’s activities during the week touched several areas of public concern.

The interventions also reflect an approach that combines legislative engagement with direct support to communities, schools, teachers and vulnerable students across B**g County.

As these initiatives continue, beneficiaries are expected to use the support to improve educational conditions, strengthen community activities and create greater opportunities for women and young people in the county.

Raphael 🗣️ "When the drug cartel headed by Nicholas met Bashiru Kante in 2021, they told Bashiru that they came to Liberia before to do business and they were duped, but they did not disclose the type of business they came to do. So, when they met in Dubai, according to Raphael, they met at a blue hotel in Dubai, and decided to explain to Bashiru about their experience.

They told Bashiru that they needed some top government officials to provide security for them to carry on their business in Liberia. At that time, according to Raphael, they did not disclose the kind of business they were involved with, not until when Bashiru connected them with Jewel Howard-Taylor to provide security.

Jewel was invited to Dubai. She first traveled from Monrovia to Accra, and then she went to Dubai along with a five-man delegation, according to Raphael. He told the court that on that delegation, her sister Noah Howard was there, and one Bernice Taylor, but they were never part of the conversations that were held in the hotel between Bashiru, Nicholas, Tony, and Michael. It was during the meeting they disclosed their actual business they were involved in, and said they wanted to use Liberia as a transit point for their drugs.

He told the court that he would provide videos and footages when Nicole, Nicholas, Tony, Michael, Jewel, and Bashiru Kente were on a tour riding his yacht in Dubai. He told the court that at a point in time during the conversation, Nicholas asked Jewel, now that you have granted us space and passage to do our business in Liberia, do you have any intention of contesting for the presidency?

He said Jewel did not outright say yes or no, but then she asked for $100 million, and he said, the cartel group told her that, well, we'll give you $250 million to go along with your campaign just in case.

Rafael explained that Jewel said when we win the elections (2023), we will run the country for only three years, and after the three years, we'll as!!sassinate Weah. He said there is audio to that effect which Jewel lawyers refused to be played in the court.

Raphael gave his phone to investigators and they went through and saw all the conversations, especially the text messages, the WhatsApp, the photos between he and Jewel Howard-Taylor, it was how they got the information extracted from the phone."

Senator Moye Donates Instructional Materials, Cash to St. Martin’s Catholic High School In Gbarnga

GBARNGA, B**g County — B**g County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. has donated instructional materials and cash to St. Martin’s Catholic High School in Gbarnga as part of his ongoing humanitarian support to educational institutions and underprivileged children.

The donation includes 12 whiteboards, 12 high-quality ceiling fans, and L$150,000 in cash.

The items were presented following an appeal made by the administration of St. Martin’s Catholic High School during the school’s celebration of the Day of the African Child, where Senator Moye served as keynote speaker.

The L$150,000 cash contribution represents an initial portion of the L$300,000 Senator Moye promised to provide toward educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Senator, his Scholarship Coordinator, Abel R. Okai, said the donation was in response to the request made by the school’s administration.

Okai explained that the L$150,000 was the first contribution toward the L$300,000 commitment announced by Senator Moye during the Day of the African Child celebration.

He said the Senator remains committed to supporting education and responding to challenges confronting students and schools across B**g County.

Receiving the donation, administrators of St. Martin’s Catholic High School expressed appreciation to Senator Moye for providing the whiteboards, ceiling fans, and financial support.

Speaking during the ceremony, the school’s Vice Principal for Instruction, Oglas Calculuslord Jabateh, and Principal, Father Michael Gborlee, described the donation as timely and impactful.

They said the school had been facing challenges with inadequate instructional materials and uncomfortable classroom conditions, particularly during the dry season when temperatures become extremely high.

“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Senator for this intervention. Before now, our students were using cracked blackboards and learning in extreme heat. These whiteboards will improve visibility and interaction, and the ceiling fans will make our classrooms conducive for learning,” the school administrators said.

According to them, the lack of basic instructional materials has been a major challenge for the institution, affecting both teaching and learning.

They further noted that the Senator’s intervention would help improve students’ concentration and could contribute to better academic performance.

“When a child is sweating and cannot see the board clearly, concentration is lost. This donation solves two problems at once. We are grateful,” they said.

The school administrators described Senator Moye as a development partner of St. Martin’s Catholic High School and thanked him for responding to the institution’s needs.

The ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from the school administration, which assured the Senator that the donated materials would be properly maintained and used for their intended purpose.

EPA Calls for Community Action to Protect Sinoe Forests

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has called for stronger community involvement in Liberia’s efforts to protect forests, biodiversity and the environment as a new conservation project begins in Sinoe County.

EPA Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo made the call on Thursday, September 3, during the launch of the “Sustaining the Gains of Community Climate Actions in Sinoe County” project at D’Calabash in Congo Town, Monrovia.

The project brings together the Initiative for Democratic Leadership (IDL), the Government of Ireland, Fauna & Flora, the EPA, the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), the Ministry of Mines and Energy, and communities in Wedjah, Jeadea, Bokon, Bodae and Jeadea-Quioh.

Dr. Yarkpawolo said lasting conservation will only be possible when communities are placed at the center of environmental protection and are given opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

He noted that although climate change is often discussed at international meetings, its effects are directly felt by Liberian communities through changing rainfall patterns, flooding, declining water resources and increasing pressure on forests and traditional livelihoods.

The EPA Executive Director said government policies and international commitments must be supported by practical programs that provide communities with knowledge, resources and economic opportunities to adapt to climate change.

He highlighted previous community-led interventions in Sinoe, including Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), revolving grants and community stewardship payments. According to him, these initiatives have helped residents, especially women, establish businesses and support local development projects, including the construction of bridges, schools and wells.

Dr. Yarkpawolo also welcomed plans to strengthen cooperation with the EPA, FDA and Ministry of Mines and Energy to address environmental threats, including illicit and poorly regulated mining.

He stressed that communities should have clear channels for reporting environmental violations, while government institutions must respond through effective enforcement of environmental laws.

Carbon Market Policy

Dr. Yarkpawolo also announced that Liberia’s National Carbon Market Policy has been approved by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.

He said the policy provides a framework for Liberia to participate in carbon markets with greater transparency, accountability and integrity.

According to him, the policy could create new opportunities for communities that protect and sustainably manage Liberia’s forests.

He emphasized that communities must receive fair and meaningful benefits from carbon market activities, which should support local development, strengthen livelihoods and encourage long-term forest protection.

Project to Expand Conservation and Livelihood Support

IDL Executive Director Silas Kpanan Ayoung Siakor said the organization works to empower communities to manage and benefit from their land and forests while ensuring that conservation contributes to local development.

Siakor said the project was developed in response to Liberia’s continued loss of forests and biodiversity and concerns that conservation efforts must provide greater benefits to communities.

He explained that the project will allow communities to participate in decisions about forest protection while identifying infrastructure, livelihood and economic opportunities needed to make conservation sustainable.

Irish Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Gerard Considine, also stressed the importance of addressing the economic needs of communities living near forests.

He said some communities in Sinoe previously depended on cutting forests for charcoal because they had limited economic alternatives. However, he noted that livelihood programs, including VSLAs, cassava production, small-business support and modern cassava processing machines, are helping communities develop alternative sources of income.

Ambassador Considine said these interventions have helped families pay school fees, access healthcare and expand small businesses.

“By investing in the people, we protect the forest,” he said, reaffirming Ireland’s commitment to locally driven conservation and development in Liberia.

Under the new phase of the project, protected forest areas are expected to increase to 55,931 hectares, while livelihood support is projected to reach at least 2,000 households.

The project will also conduct participatory biodiversity assessments and develop community conservation plans to identify and protect important ecosystems while considering the economic needs of people who depend on natural resources.

The initiative is being implemented in the Wedjah and Jeadea areas, covering about 50,674 hectares, with links to communities and landscapes including Jedepo, Dugbe and Wedcarba in southeastern Liberia.
