President Boakai Congratulates King Mohammed VI, Reaffirms Liberia's Enduring Friendship with Morocco

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has extended warm congratulations to His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco on the occasion of the 27th Anniversary of the Throne Day celebrations, reaffirming Liberia's commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and expanding cooperation with the North African kingdom.
In an official congratulatory message President Boakai praised King Mohammed VI's leadership, describing his reign as one marked by visionary governance, modernization, and sustained national development.
"On behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in my own name, I extend to Your Majesty warmest congratulations on the celebration of the Twenty-Seventh (27th) Anniversary of your ascension to the throne," President Boakai wrote.
He further commended the Moroccan monarch for transforming Morocco into "an emerging, modern and prosperous country" through forward-looking policies and strategic leadership.
President Boakai expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship between Liberia and Morocco would continue to flourish, emphasizing cooperation in promoting peace, economic development, and African unity.
He noted that both nations remain committed to advancing the objectives of the African Union (AU) and the United Nations (UN), particularly in fostering regional stability, international peace, and sustainable economic cooperation.
"As the people of Morocco celebrate this glorious day, it is my fervent hope and prayer that the cordial ties of friendship and cooperation subsisting between our two countries and peoples will be further strengthened in the spirit of African solidarity," the Liberian leader stated.
President Boakai concluded his message by praying that Almighty Allah grants King Mohammed VI wisdom and strength as he continues to lead Morocco toward greater prosperity.
King Mohammed VI ascended the Moroccan throne on July 30, 1999, succeeding his late father, King Hassan II.
During nearly three decades of his reign, Morocco has emerged as one of Africa's fastest-modernizing economies, investing heavily in infrastructure, renewable energy, manufacturing, tourism, agriculture, and digital transformation.
Today, Morocco boasts one of Africa's largest automotive manufacturing industries, producing more than 700,000 vehicles annually, while its Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex ranks among the world's largest concentrated solar power facilities.
The country has also expanded its high-speed rail network with Al Boraq, Africa's first high-speed train, linking Tangier and Casablanca.
According to international financial institutions, Morocco's economy is valued at approximately US$160 billion, making it one of the continent's leading economies.
The country has also become a strategic gateway for trade between Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
Liberia and Morocco have maintained cordial diplomatic relations for decades, collaborating across education, agriculture, health, infrastructure, diplomacy, and capacity-building.
Hundreds of Liberian students have benefited from Moroccan government scholarships, while both countries continue to work together through the African Union and other multilateral institutions on issues relating to peacebuilding, regional integration, and sustainable development.
Morocco has also played an active role in supporting African development through investments and South-South cooperation initiatives, strengthening partnerships with numerous countries across the continent, including Liberia.
Celebrated annually on July 30, Throne Day is Morocco's most important national event, commemorating King Mohammed VI's accession to the throne. The occasion features military ceremonies, national celebrations, royal addresses, and diplomatic messages from leaders around the world.
This year's observance marks 27 years of King Mohammed VI's reign, a period widely associated with constitutional reforms, economic modernization, infrastructure expansion, renewable energy investments, and Morocco's growing influence in African and international affairs.
President Boakai's congratulatory message underscores Liberia's continued support for stronger bilateral cooperation and reflects the shared commitment of both nations to peace, stability, economic development, and African solidarity.
