๐จ๐๐๐๐, ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ โ Hon. Joseph Boye Cooper, Deputy Executive Director for Operations at the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), is currently representing the Republic of Liberia at the African Union Commissionโs High-Level Conference on Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development, being held from July 1โ4, 2025, in Accra, Ghana.
This four-day critical regional conference brings together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders from across the continent to advance discussions on the AU Protocol on the Free Movement of Persons in Africaโa foundational initiative aimed at enhancing regional integration, promoting economic cooperation, and upholding human rights across member states.
Hon. Cooperโs participation reflects Liberiaโs unwavering commitment to regional collaboration and to safeguarding the rights and dignity of refugees, asylum seekers, returnees, stateless persons, and other vulnerable populations. His presence also underscores the vital role that national institutions such as the LRRRC play in harmonizing national strategies with continental efforts to promote safe, orderly, and dignified human mobility.
The AU Free Movement Protocol, once fully operational, is expected to remove obstacles to migration across Africa, create safer pathways for displaced individuals, and support inclusive and sustainable development throughout the region.
LRRRC's dedication to working alongside regional partners to strengthen humanitarian frameworks that prioritize the protection and well-being of those affected by conflict, environmental challenges, and socio-economic instability remains a priority.
