NCCRM Delegation Pays Condolence Visit to Former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor

A delegation of staff from the National Center for the Coordination of Response Mechanism (NCCRM), headed by Hon. Arthur Bestman, Executive Director, and Madam Sophie MP Reeves, Deputy Executive Director, on February 6, 2026, paid a condolence visit to Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor, former Vice President of the Republic of Liberia and Chairman Emeritus of the NCCRM Board, at Congo Town, Monrovia, Liberia, following the tragic loss of her only son, Philip Taylor.

During the visit, Hon. Bestman, speaking on behalf of the management and staff of the NCCRM, extended his profound condolences to Madam Howard-Taylor for such an irreparable loss. He expressed the institution’s deep sympathy and solidarity with her and her family during this difficult period of mourning.

The NCCRM delegation assured Madam Howard-Taylor of their continued thoughts and prayers, emphasizing that the institution stands with her in grief and shares in her sorrow. The visit reflected the NCCRM’s respect and enduring relationship with its Chairman Emeritus, as well as its commitment to offering comfort and support in times of bereavement.

NCCRM Launches 2026–2030 Five-Year Strategic Plan

Monrovia, Liberia β€” February 6, 2026 β€” The National Center for the Coordination of Response Mechanism (NCCRM) has officially launched its Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2026–2030 in a ceremony attended by key stakeholders and partners.

During the event, Hon. Arthur Bestman, Executive Director of NCCRM, formally presented the Strategic Plan to Madam Veronica Johnson-Samuel, representative of the NCCRM Board. The launch brought together a cross-section of NCCRM stakeholders, including members of the Board, representatives from the Liberia Peace Building Office (LPBO) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), members of the press, and NCCRM staff.

In his remarks, Hon. Bestman expressed gratitude to NCCRM’s partners for their valuable contributions and continued support in developing the Strategic Plan. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with partners and staff to ensure the full and effective implementation of the plan over the next five years.

The 2026–2030 Strategic Plan outlines NCCRM’s priorities and serves as a roadmap for strengthening coordination and response mechanisms in line with its mandate.

The National Center for the Coordination of Response Mechanism (NCCRM) on Friday, January 23, 2026, convened a high-level stakeholders’ meeting to validate its Five-Year Strategic Plan, a critical roadmap intended to strengthen national coordination, preparedness, and response mechanisms.

The validation meeting brought together representatives of the NCCRM Board, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Performance Management and Compliance System (PMCS), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Peace Building Office (PBO), and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, alongside senior management and technical staff of the NCCRM.

During the engagement, stakeholders reviewed the draft 91-page strategic plan and provided preliminary observations aimed at improving the document’s clarity, coherence, and strategic focus. Participants emphasized the importance of a thorough review process and were encouraged to further examine the document in detail to generate more comprehensive and actionable inputs ahead of final adoption.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on next steps, including the incorporation of stakeholders’ recommendations. It was also agreed that the official launch of the NCCRM Five-Year Strategic Plan will take place between January 27 and 29, 2026.

The NCCRM reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive planning, institutional transparency, and inter-agency collaboration as key pillars for effective national response coordination.

NCCRM Hosts Year-End Retreat, Honors Staff for Excellence

Paynesville City, Montserrado County – December 21

The National Center for the Coordination of Response Mechanism (NCCRM) on December 21 hosted its Year-End Retreat at the Bless One Resort in Paynesville City, Montserrado County. The retreat provided an opportunity for reflection on the institution’s performance during the year and reinforced its commitment to stronger coordination and improved service delivery in 2026.

As part of the program, NCCRM recognized four staff members for outstanding punctuality and discipline, values considered critical to effective national response coordination.

Ms. Cheetah George and Mr. Gabrie Amofah were awarded Most Punctual Female Staff and Most Punctual Male Staff respectively, in recognition of their consistent timeliness and dedication to duty. Meanwhile, Mr. Kunan Vesselly and Albertina D. Mussah received awards for Most Disciplined Male Staff and Most Disciplined Female Staff, honoring their professionalism and adherence to institutional standards.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Executive Director of NCCRM, Honorable Arthur Bestman, expressed sincere appreciation to all employees for their collective efforts toward a successful year. He encouraged staff to β€œdouble up” their commitment and productivity in 2026, noting that growing national challenges require heightened discipline, teamwork, and innovation.

Also delivering remarks, NCCRM’s Deputy Executive Director, Madam Sophie MP Reeves, commended the award recipients for demonstrating true leadership through hard work and consistency. She emphasized that such attributes set the benchmark for excellence within public institutions.

NCCRM Welcomes Senate Confirmation of Executive Leadership

Monrovia, Liberia β€” The National Center for the Coordination of Response Mechanism (NCCRM) announces the confirmation by the Honorable Liberian Senate of Honorable Arthur Bestman as Executive Director and Madam Sophie M. P. Reeves as Deputy Executive Director of the institution.

Their confirmations follow their initial appointments by His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, on May 9, 2024, when Honorable Bestman and Madam Reeves were designated to serve in acting capacities as Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director, respectively.

Subsequently, and in keeping with established governance procedures, the NCCRM Board of Directors conducted its assessment and submitted formal recommendations to the President. Acting on these recommendations, the President reappointed Honorable Arthur Bestman and Madam Sophie M. P. Reeves on November 4, 2025, to serve in substantive roles as Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director of the NCCRM.

Honorable Bestman and Madam Reeves bring to the NCCRM a strong record of service, marked by extensive experience in public administration and human security. Their professional backgrounds reflect a clear understanding of institutional coordination, emergency preparedness, and policy-driven response mechanisms critical to safeguarding national resilience.

The NCCRM extends appreciation to the President of Liberia for his continued confidence in the leadership of the institution, to the Board for its guidance, and to the Liberian Senate for the timely confirmation process.
