NLA Provides L$152,000 Education Support to 56 Physically Challenged Students at University of Liberia
MONROVIA, LIBERIA, NLA, Aug. 18, 2026 -The Management of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), through its Departments of Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Welfare, has presented a cheque valued at L$152,000 to support approximately 56 physically challenged students enrolled at the University of Liberia.
The financial assistance is being provided under the NLA’s Education Empowerment Program (EEP) and is intended to facilitate the beneficiaries’ registration fees helping to ease some of the financial challenges confronting physically challenged students as they pursue higher education.
The initiative is part of the National Lottery Authority’s sustained commitment to promoting inclusive education, equal opportunity, and social empowerment for vulnerable and physically challenged Liberians.
The Education Empowerment Program, which has been implemented for the past four years, is specifically designed to support physically challenged students enrolled at public universities and Community Colleges across Liberia. Through the program, the NLA continues to invest in education as a critical tool for empowerment, self-reliance, and national development.
Presenting the Cheque to the beneficiaries at its Old Road Headquarters Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the Authority’s Deputy Director General for Administration, Hon. Ennish Lamie Fahnbulleh said the initiative reflects the institution’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda, which seeks to ensure that the Authority’s contributions extend beyond its core regulatory mandate to positively impact communities and improve the lives of ordinary Liberians.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Gertrude Weah Doelu, Administrative Assistant at the Resource Center for Disabilities Support Services and Alternative Learning, University of Liberia, expressed appreciation to the Management of the National Lottery Authority for the continued assistance provided to physically challenged students over the years.
Madam Doelu commended the NLA for creating an opportunity for students with disabilities to access meaningful educational support, noting that the assistance will go a long way in easing the burden associated with registration.
She assured the NLA's Management that the support would be responsibly utilized for its intended purpose and expressed confidence that the assistance would enable the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and work toward achieving their academic and professional goals.
The beneficiaries, she said, deeply appreciate the NLA’s continued partnership and commitment to their educational advancement.
The National Lottery Authority’s Deputy Director General for Administration meanwhile, reaffirmed Authority’s determination to strengthen its social intervention programs and expand initiatives that promote education, inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunities for persons living with disabilities.
Hon. Fahnbulleh emphasized that physical disability should never be a barrier to accessing quality education or realizing one’s full potential.
With the continued implementation of the Education Empowerment Program, Hon. Fahnbulleh disclosed the NLA remains committed to supporting students across Liberia’s public institutions of higher learning and contributing to the development of an educated, empowered, and inclusive Liberian society.
