Hon. Wiah Commends National Leadership for Delivery of 137 Earth-Moving Equipment; Reaffirms Commitment to Community Road Connectivity in District #2

The Office of Hon. Samson Quejue Wiah, Representative of District #2, Sinoe County, extends profound appreciation to His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, His Excellency Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, and the distinguished Members of the 55th Legislature for prioritizing the acquisition of 285 pieces of earth-moving equipment to enhance national road infrastructure.

This achievement reflects the government’s commitment to addressing one of the Liberian people’s top development priorities—road connectivity. The arrival of the first batch of 137 earth-moving machines marks a significant step toward improving access across the country.

While the national government advances the construction of major highways and primary roads, Hon. Wiah remains firmly committed to complementing these efforts by focusing on smaller community roads within District #2. Currently, the Representative is on the ground in the district spearheading the opening of several feeder and community roads through his own initiative to ensure that remote towns and villages are not left behind.

“Access to road connectivity is a basic human right and a fundamental driver of development,” Hon. Wiah emphasized. “When roads are opened, markets thrive, schools become accessible, health services improve, and communities are empowered.”

The ongoing road initiatives in District #2 are designed to link isolated communities, boost local agriculture, and stimulate economic activity across Sinoe County. Hon. Wiah reiterated that development must be inclusive and community-centered.

The Office of the Representative calls on citizens and local leaders to continue supporting national and district-level development efforts, ensuring that “everywhere is connected” and that no community remains inaccessible.

Tribute to Charles Philip Taylor

Her Excellency Madam Jewel Howard-Taylor; our sisters Zoe and Chelene; siblings; and the entire Taylor and Howard families.
Chairman Mulbah, Distinguished Caucus Members, National Executive Committee members, stalwarts and partisans of the NPP, and representatives of other political parties.
Government officials, members of the Fourth Estate, distinguished ladies and gentlemen.

It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we have navigated the dark clouds of these past weeks. The demise of Charles Philip Taylor—a son of the NPP, a son of our founding father, and a son of our beloved Standard Bearer.

This loss has shaken the very foundation of our partisans, families and friends.

It is a loss felt most acutely by his mother, his father, his children, his siblings, and the extended Taylor and Howard families.

As the most formidable Caucus of the NPP, we stand here today to extend our heartfelt condolences. We share in the grief of our leaders and the pain of every partisan who saw in Philip a shared NPP values, history and future.

A Legacy of Remembrance

To lose someone of such significance is to feel a void that words cannot easily fill. In moments of such profound grief, we are reminded of the words of the poet Thomas Campbell:
"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."
Charles Philip Taylor may have departed from this earthly stage, but he remains eternally woven into the fabric of the National Patriotic Party
and the history of the Republic of Liberia. His name and his spirit will continue to resonate within the halls of our institution and in the hearts of us all.

Conclusion

This irreplaceable and irreparable loss has broken us all, but let it also bind us together in strength and solidarity. As we laid our brother, our son, and our partisan to rest, let us honor him by upholding the unity of the family and the party he so dearly loved.

May the Almighty God provide the Taylor and Howard families with the "peace that passes all understanding." May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in perfect peace.

Farewell, Charles Philip Taylor. Sleep on, and take your rest.

Armed Forces Day Message

Today, we join the nation in honoring the brave men and women who wear the uniform with dignity, discipline, and honor.

As Representative of Electoral District #2, Sinoe County, Hon. Samson Quejue Wiah reaffirms his deep respect and appreciation for the Armed Forces of Liberia — men and women who stand vigilant in defense of our sovereignty and national peace. Their sacrifices remind us that security is not taken for granted, but preserved through courage and commitment.

We recognize that Armed Forces Day is not only about uniforms or weapons; it is about the spirit of service, the resilience behind the shield, and the dedication that allows our families and communities to live and rest in safety.

Hon. Wiah pledges his continued commitment, as a lawmaker and national leader, to support and work collaboratively with the Armed Forces of Liberia — through advocacy, legislation, and partnership — to strengthen national security and safeguard the Republic we all cherish.

On behalf of the people of District #2, we extend heartfelt gratitude to all service members at home and abroad.

Happy Armed Forces Day to our men and women in arms and to all Liberians everywhere.

*The Response: Defending Institutional Integrity*

The Expulsion of Hon. Samson Quejue Wiah is Dead on Arrival!!!!"

 *1. A Procedural Impossibility*

How can the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) claim to expel a National Executive Committee (NEC) Member of the National Patriotic Party (NPP)? As of June 11, 2024, the Coalition officially acknowledged the NPP’s withdrawal from the alliance. You cannot expel a member of a sovereign party that is no longer part of your administrative structure. This "expulsion" is a political weapon without a legal holster.

*2. Respecting the Foundation of our Democracy*

Our coalition was built on the sweat and brotherhood of the NPP, the CDC, and the LPDP. As Liberians, we must respect the past and present relationships that brought us to the table. You cannot strengthen a house by tearing down its foundation. An target a sitting Representative like Samson Quejue Wiah who is a non Congress member is wrong.
*
*3. A Call for Political Maturity**

"Political titles may change, but our commitment to Liberia does not."

Acknowledgment is not weakness: Recognizing the contributions of coalition partners is the only way to return to the people's work.

Unity over Division: We must move away from the politics of exclusion and "reputational ruin".

"Strengthening our democracy requires builders, not executioners. Let us return to the spirit that respect the institutional independence of the NPP and its Members."

Press Release February 5, 2026

THE OFFICE OF HON. WIAH DISMISSES FALSE CLAIM OF ALLEGED RECEIPT OF US$100,000.00 FROM HUMMINGBIRD RESOURCES

CAPITOL HILL, Monrovia –The Office of Electoral District #:2, Sinoe County, Hon. Samson Quejue Wiah, strongly refutes and dismisses as false, misleading, and unfounded recent claims made by Thomas Togba Koon, the worst defeated candidate of the 2020 District # 2 by-elections during an exclusive interview on Spotlight Africa Online TV, alleging that the Representative received the sum of US$100,000.00 from Hummingbird Resources, a mining company operating predominantly in Sinoe County and single-handedly diverted it for his personal use.

The Office of the Representative categorically denies these allegations, clarifying that at no time neither he nor any member of his office ever received any money from Hummingbird Resources on behalf of the district.

The Representative terms these claims as been baseless, reckless and irresponsible, and that they are only intended to tarnish his high-earned reputation and integrity he has built over the years. He is therefore using this public manner to challenge Thomas Togba Koon, a political flunkies to produce credible evidence within 24hours to substantiate his claims instead of engaging in reckless speculation and misinformation, or risk unspecified actions.

He rejects false claims and warns against deliberate attempts to injure his reputation unnecessarily by a political loser and impersonator like Thomas Togba Koon who still suffers post election psychosis since his defeat.

He believes District #:2 deserves a strong, focused and responsible opposition not an uncivilized character that lacks basic understanding of elementary governance issues.

The Representative remains open and committed to transparency. He further assures his constituents his continued efforts to connect new roads, construct schools, market buildings and provide scholarship for deserving students. He also cautions the public to ignore false reports and rely on evidence based information from credible and verified sources.

He described the addition of a seat to Sinoe County as being legisprudent rather than being legal, an action he believes would benefit the nation. “More representation, more development,” he asserted!
