The Liberia Youth Unity Alliance (LYUA) is deeply concerned about the developments currently unfolding in our country, particularly the ongoing narcotics investigation involving former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.
As young Liberians, we understand the seriousness of these allegations, but we also understand that an allegation is not a conviction. Every person deserves the right to due process, legal representation, and a fair hearing before a competent court.
We therefore call on the Government of Liberia and our security and judicial institutions to handle this matter professionally, transparently, and without political influence. If there is credible evidence, let that evidence be presented through the proper legal channels and allow the courts to determine the truth.
At the same time, we urge our fellow Liberians, especially young people, to remain calm. We cannot allow political differences, anger, or fear to divide our country or lead to violence. Liberia has gone through enough; we should not repeat the mistakes of our past.
Liberia Youth Unity Alliance believes that nobody is above the law, but nobody should be condemned without a fair process either. We want justice that is equal, transparent, and free from political favoritism.
Our loyalty is not to an individual political party or personality. Our loyalty is to Liberia and its people.🇱🇷
Let truth prevail. Let justice prevail. Let peace
Prevail.
