Ambassador Manoj Bihari Verma paid a courtesy call on H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, former President of Liberia and Africa’s first democratically elected woman President.

He presented Madam Sirleaf with the research report, “The Contribution and Legacy of India’s All-Women Formed Police Unit in the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL)”, documenting the service and legacy of India’s All-Women Formed Police Unit, the first-ever such contingent in UN peacekeeping history.

On 3 September 2026, Embassy welcomed students of International Relation and Diplomacy Professional Certificate Programme at the Higher Africa Institute, Monrovia, for a Youth Outreach Programme, “India Connect: Liberian Youth @ Embassy.”

The students were given an overview of the Mission’s role in strengthening India-Liberia diplomatic, economic and cultural ties through an engaging presentation. They actively participated in an interactive session, with discussions covering education and study opportunities, tourism, business between India and Liberia.

Ambassador Manoj Bihari Verma interacted with a group of Liberian professionals ahead of their travel to India for capacity-building trainings under ITEC programme at premier Indian institutions, including the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Centre for WTO Studies, New Delhi; Bankers Institute of Rural Development, Lucknow; Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh; and the Institute of Government Accounts & Finance, New Delhi.

We wish all participants a fruitful and enriching training experience in India.

Embassy welcomed a delegation from the "Group of 77 Disabled Center", Liberia’s leading institution supporting persons with disabilities. Discussions focused on ongoing cooperation in capacity-building through the ITEC programme and explored further areas of collaboration with the Embassy.

Operating under the supervision of the Office of the Vice President and spearheaded by Liberia’s Second Lady, Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung, the Group works to advance the welfare of the persons with disabilities in Liberia.
