Today, I received an honor in recognition of my contribution to the fight for transparency and accountability in Liberia and my contribution to my constituent in District #5, Margibi County.

On behalf of the Citizens Action Committee, an esteemed and resolute civil society institution, unwavering in its advocacy for the rule of law, good government, and the advancement of our beloved nation, it is with profound honor and immense pride that we have gathered today to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Hon. Clarence G. Gahr, the distinguished Representative of District #5, Margibi County. His steadfast and tireless commitment to advancing justice, fostering education, promoting community development, and upholding exemplary governance shines as a luminous beacon of hope, progress, and, transformation for the people of District #5, Margibi County, and indeed, for all of Liberians.
Ladies and Gentleman of the Press, Esteemed staff of this Distinguished Office, First and foremost, we extend our deepest admiration and heartfelt gratitude to Representative Gahr for his instrumental and courageous role as one of the foremost champions of the establishment of the War and Economic crimes court in Liberia. This monumental endeavor is not merely a step forward; it is a giant leap toward dismantling the chain of impunity that has long shackled our nation. It is a clarion call for justice, ensuring that the countless victims of Liberia's turbulent civil conflict receive the justice they so rightfully deserve. His resolute and principled leadership in this matter is a profound testament to his unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and fostering a peace that is both enduring and just within our nation. Representative Gahr's dedication to the cause is a beacon of hope for a brighter and more just future for all Liberians.
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen of the press, collaborating institutions, and the People of District #5, Margibi County, Representative Gahr has consistently demonstrated an unparalleled and selfless dedication to the well-being and upliftment of his constituents. His magnanimous and impact contribution of L$75,000 to the Global Village Connection in Konola town has played a pivotal role in alleviating the scourges of hunger and poverty that have long plagued our communities. The bridge project in Kpah, valued at US$60,000, alongside the ongoing construction of the town hall worth US$35,000, stands as an enduring symbol of his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development and the empowerment of the local committee.
These initiatives are more than just projects; they are lifelines that connect, empower, and inspire the people of Margibi County, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their needs are met. In addition, Representative Gahr's steadfast support of the Muslim community, alongside his establishment of a comprehensive scholarship program benefitting 100 educational stakeholders, including principles, underscores his profound commitment to fostering inclusive education and nurturing the leaders of tomorrow. His vision is where no child is left behind and every educator is empowered to shape the future of our great nation.
Furthermore, his contribution to local Radio stations in Margibi, Radio Margibi in tone of US$500, coupled with his allocation of $1.5 million to seven Elementary and Jr high schools, has significantly alleviated the financial burdens of over 350 students enrolled in the lawmaker's financial aid program for the 2023/2024 school year. These actions are not merely a gesture of kindness; they are strategies for investment in the future of Liberia, ensuring that education, the cornerstone of development, remains accessible to all.
Moreover, his benevolent donation of L$25,000 accompanied by 25 bags of 25kg rice to students who undertook, the WASSCE exam, and his allocation of $400,000 to the chiefs and elders of Borlola township, exemplify his deep-rooted commitment to community welfare and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage. These gestures are not merely acts of charity; they are profound expressions of solidarity, empathy, and a deep-seated belief in the power of community and the importance of empowering the people who form its foundation.
The career counseling organized and supported by Representative Gahr for over 150 students in District #5, Margibi County, further highlights his unwavering dedication to the holistic development and empowerment of the youths, ensuring that they are not only educated but also equipped with the tools necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern world. Representative Gahr's visionary leadership transcends the boundaries of his district. His ongoing support for the new school project in Weala is also another testament to his unwavering commitment to educational advancement. He understands that the future of Liberia is being shaped in the classroom of today, and he is dedicated to ensuring that these classrooms are equipped to provide a world-class education.
Ladies and Gentleman of the Press, our honoree and the people of District #5, Margibi, Representative Gahr's current role on the Public Accounts Committee as chair of the Legislature reflects his profound understanding of legislative processes, as well as his unyielding commitment to accountability, transparency and fiscal responsibility within Liberia's government structure. His vigilance in these matters ensures that the resources of the nation are used effectively, efficiently, and justly, for the benefit of all Liberians.
His representation of Liberia at the African Development Bank's forum in Ethiopia, under the theme, "Addressing Emerging Public Debts Management Capacity challenges in Africa", underscores his expertise and steadfast dedication to addressing critical financial challenges across the African continent. In the role, he is not just a representative of his district or even his country, but a champion of the entire continent advocating for sound financial management that will pave the way for sustainable development and prosperity.
In light of these remarkable achievements and his unwavering commitment to the advancement of Liberia, the Citizens Action Committee is deeply honored to acknowledge the exemplary service of Hon. Clarence Gahr. His tireless efforts are not merely a source of inspiration but serve as a powerful catalyst for positive change within our beloved nation.
