ගෝමර පිළිහුඩුවා - Pied Kingfisher
(scientific name: Ceryle rudis) perched on a rock by the water's edge, likely preparing to hunt.

"රත් යටිමල් කිරළා" (Rath yatimāl kiralā) යනු Red-wattled Lapwing (විද්‍යාත්මක නාමය: Vanellus indicus) නම් පක්ෂියාගේ සිංහල නමයි. මෙයා ආසියාවේ බහුලව දක්නට ලැබෙන, බිම වාසය කරන, පියාපත්වල රතු පැහැති 'කිරළ' (wattle) ඇති විශාල ප්ලෝවර් (plover) වර්ගයේ පක්ෂියෙකි.

පෙනුම:

රතු පැහැති කිරළ (wattle) සහ කහ පැහැති හොටක් සහිතව, කළු, සුදු සහ දුඹුරු පැහැති රටා සහිතව දිස්වේ.

වාසස්ථානය:

ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ඇතුළු ආසියානු රටවල තණබිම්, ගොවිබිම් සහ විවෘත ප්‍රදේශවල ජීවත් වේ.

හැසිරීම:

බිම වාසය කරන පක්ෂියෙකු වන අතර, ගස්වල අතු මත වාඩිවීමට නොහැකිය.

සිංහල නම:

රතු පැහැති කිරළ (wattle) නිසා "රත් යටිමල් කිරළා" ලෙස හැඳින්වේ.

Little green bee eater

The Asian little green bee-eater (Merops orientalis) is a small, slender bird that is mainly green with a blue throat, a black eye stripe, and a rust-brown crown. It lives in dry, open areas of Asia and Africa. This insectivore catches flying insects, such as bees, and nests in burrows it digs in sandy soil.
