EMERGING YOUNG LEADER AWARD (EYLA) AIMS TO SEARCH AND RECOGNIZE YOUNG INDIVIDUALS WITH SUPERIOR LEADERSHIP QUALITIES WHO STAND AHEAD FROM THE OTHER YOUTH IN THE SOCIETY. The concept of EYLA on its own stands out unique and praiseworthy aspiring to identify and recognize talented youth with exceptional leadership qualities, who can create a measurable change in the society. The contest was instigated in 2011 by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development and hosted by the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), and was without doubt an unqualified success on debut proving to be the only national project to have been holistically concluded out of the many others to mark the International Year of Youth declared by the United Nations from August 2010 to August 2011. National Youth Services Council together with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development is determined to conduct EYLA in the true glamour and caliber that the concept warrants in 2012 and in the years ahead. The contest has already started in a bigger and better scale by the National Youth Services Council of Sri Lanka in 2012 under the theme and brand “Sri Lanka Youth”.
