Based on our discussion on 9th October 2025:
The field visit was attended by the Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), Disaster Management Assistant, Grama Niladari, District Manager of Sarvodaya, Social Program Coordinator, and the focal point from Arththa Dharma.
The event began with a welcome ceremony organized by the Valarnila Sarvodaya Shramadana Society. Following this, the team held discussions with representatives from the Valarnila Sarvodaya Shramadana Society of Kaddakadu, the Rural Development Society (RDS), Women’s Rural Development Society (WRDS), the Farmer Organization, and the Sarvodaya Ilanthalir youth team.
During the discussion, participants expressed their appreciation for Sarvodaya's ongoing activities in Kaddakadu village and for the DMC’s field visit. The conversation also covered key local disaster issues, past flooding experiences, and potential flood mitigation strategies. The team then conducted a site visit in Kaddakadu to identify possible mitigation activities.
Several future activities were planned during the meeting, with the following key focus areas:
* Organize a large-scale Shramadana (voluntary community service) activity with the support of the Pradeshiya Sabha, Divisional Secretariat of Kandawalai, and the Irrigation Department.
* Arrange a follow-up field visit with the Irrigation Department for canal cleaning.
* Conduct an awareness program on waste management.
* Carry out household visits for waste management awareness, involving members of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Society and the health team.
