•To recreate a self-disciplined generation with spiritual values.
•To create a generation of children and youth with an active
lifestyle that will take Sri Lanka to the world through sports. Major Duties
1.To formulate policies in accordance with the relevant laws and
acts and ordinances to create an energetic and disciplined
generation.
2.To implement projects under the National Budget Public
Investments and National Development Programmes.
3.To formulate, implement, monitor and monitor subjects,
functions and related policy programmes and projects related to
the National Institute of Sports Science, National Sports
Council, Sugathadasa National Sports Complex Authority,
Sports Medicine Institute and Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency
Evaluation which come under the purview of the Ministry.
4.To take measures to introduce sports activities to the youth
through extra-curricular activities from school education, youth
clubs and sports clubs, preventing the energy of school children
and youth from being subject to anti-social sectors.
5.To implement a programme to create a healthy generation of
children by attracting school children for physical education and
sports apart from their education.
6.To identify children with sports skills from their childhood in the
rural schools scatters around the island and to implement
programmes including proper nutrition and training to facilitate
them to bring their skills up to international standards,.

He won two gold and two silver medals in his 85–90 age category.

Senior member of Sri Lankan Masters Athlete, Mr. Wanshapala Narasinghe from Kandy participated 19th Australian Master athletics games.

The Ministry of Sports has organized a series of programs aimed at enhancing the knowledge of athletic coaches across the island. First of all, on 07th December 2023, led by the following experts related to sports nutrition. From 9.00 in the evening. The Duncan White Auditorium is scheduled until 04.00 at the Ministry of Sports.

Improving the sports performance through proper nutrition

In connect to the above, the Ministry of Sports has organized a series of programs aimed at developing the knowledge of athletic coaches all over the island. The first of these, under the direction of the following experts related to sports nutrition, on December 07, 2023 in the morning. 9.00 am to pm. to 04.00 at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Ministry of Sports.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Sports has informed the Sri Lanka Athletics Institute that the same opportunity can be given to one hundred athletic coaches scattered all over the island.
