Of Mining ⛏️
Bingham Canyon Mine waste dump · Utah desert · USA
That massive flat-topped "mountain" isn't natural — humans built it 😳⛏️🇺🇸

The Bingham Canyon Mine waste dump — 120 years of extracted rock stacked layer by layer into a structure you can see for miles. The coloured stripes are different minerals pulled from deep inside the Earth.

The actual mine pit behind it is 1.2km deep and visible from space.

Utah never stops surprising you.

The Open Highway
Through Utah's Desert 🛣️
Desert highway · Bingham Canyon Mine backdrop · Utah USA
Open road, big sky and a mine the size of a small country on the horizon 🛣️⛏️🇺🇸

This Utah desert highway runs straight through the sagebrush flats with Bingham Canyon Mine's massive waste terraces rising behind. On a clear day the clouds above look like they're stacking up to match the scale of the mine.

Only Utah gives you views like this on a regular road.
