QHRP - Qaa Heritage Revival Project The “Qaa Heritage Revival Project” - QHRP - is a collaborative initiative created by a group of heritage passionate volunteers.

The “Qaa Heritage Revival Project” aims to revive the rural identity of el-Qaa by preserving its traditional heritage of vernacular climate resilient mudbrick architecture, targeting eco-tourism based economic opportunities. Partners include HIMAM, a local NGO, cultural heritage consultants, archaeologists, architect restorers, surveying company General Surveying Services, the Lebanese Directorate General of Antiquities as endorsing public entity, and Landward Research. QHRP hopes to develop heritage and ecotourism-based economic opportunities in its traditional ancient dwellings, training locals in lost traditional building techniques, thus reversing the depopulation process and contributing to climate change resilience by reintegrating earthen architecture into the local mindset.
