The 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional) is a 1-Star command comprised of 2,062 personnel from the Army Reserve, Regular Army, and Department of Defense. The command's structure is composed of a headquarters element, 160th Signal Brigade (and subordinate battalions), and the Southwest Asia Cyber Center (SWACC). The provisional command possesses a strong reputation for its professional and
adaptable services, which deliver elite communications infrastructure to members of the Armed Forces throughout the southwest Asian region. Although the command first deployed forward in 2001, it was officially recognized by the Commanding General of the U.S. Ever since, the 335th SC (T) (Prov) has remained the top communications provider of choice for the U.S. The history of the command begins with the activation of the 335th Signal Group under the Third Army, February 27, 1953 in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally consisting of 69 soldiers and commanded by a colonel, a change in the Army’s structure upgraded the 335th to brigade status in October 1984. The unit insignia and crest were adopted shortly thereafter. In April 1996, the 335th became a Theater Communications Command, thereby elevating its status to a major command under the U.S. Army Reserve. In response to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, the 335th deployed an element forward to Camp Doha, Kuwait. This deployed element eventually became the signal command’s provisional element, and by the order of U.S. Army Central Command, resulted in the command's designation as both an operational and functional major command. In February 2007, the Third Army Commander formalized the 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional), by extending its presence to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait through February 10, 2009. Third Army has continued to grant two-year extensions to the Provisional Command. The 335th Signal Command (Theater) (Provisional) engineers, installs, operates, and maintains U.S. Central Command's network infrastructure and services in southwest Asia, and defends the DOD information network from adversarial forces. In East Point, Georgia, the 335th Signal Command (Theater) increased its forces to include the Army Reserve Cyber Protection Brigade, Army Reserve Elements of Cyber Command, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), Joint Enabling Capabilities Command and 1st Information Operations Command, effective October 1, 2015.
