The National AIDS Secretariat in the Ministry of Health hosted a 2-Day HIV Rapid Tester Refresher Training Course on 16th and 17th June 2026 at the NEMA Conference Room.
The training brought together healthcare workers previously trained in HIV rapid testing to refresh and strengthen their knowledge, skills, and competencies in delivering high-quality HIV Testing Services (HTS).
Throughout the two days, participants engaged in sessions covering HIV testing algorithms, quality assurance and quality control, testing procedures, documentation and reporting, ethics and professionalism, confidentiality, counselling skills, linkage to care, treatment initiation, retention in care, and viral suppression. Interactive case studies, group discussions, and problem-solving exercises were utilized to reinforce learning and promote best practices.
This refresher course forms part of Secretariat's ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards in HIV prevention, testing, care, and treatment, ensuring that healthcare workers remain equipped to provide accurate, confidential, and client-centered services to the public.
