π³The flooded forests surrounding Cambodiaβs Tonle Sap Lake, which includes Barringtonia acutangula (commonly referred to as βfreshwater mangrovesβ), are breeding grounds for many endemic fish species, and also a habitat for terrestrial wildlife, including rare and endangered birds.
Unfortunately the majority of the Tonle Sapβs flooded forests have been cleared. This is a trend seen throughout Cambodia, which over the past decade has been one of the worldβs most deforested countries.
