On behalf of H.E. Wilberforce Kitiezo - Deputy Governor Vihiga County I officially closed the 3 days workshop on Vihiga County Spatial Plan preparation organised by the Department of Physical Planning, Lands, Housing and Urban Development, funded by Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).

The event that incorporated Directors, Chief Officers, CECMs and The MCAs is to work for the next 10 years.

In his message that I delivered, the DG urged the county officials to ensure that the mwananchi's views are fully represented.

Through our ICT Directorate, we have this afternoon partnered with Huawei Kenya for purposes of enriching our youth and Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) learners with advanced digital literacy skills.

The programme launched by Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo seeks to enable them incorporate the knowledge in implementation of IT business ideas thus creating room for self employment. It will run across the entire county for a whole month.

We wind up our staff consultative forums and engagement today in Hamisi Sub County and now embark on fast tracking implementation of workable systems that will ensure our staff get an equitable share of welfare rights as well as a better and conducive working environment.

I thank our committed employees for turning up and their overzealous support despite the challenges we have been facing like salary delay which our able Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo has worked round the clock to come up with a lasting solution.

As I almost come to the end of the staff engagement exercise for purposes of getting their views and opinion on how best we can have effective service delivery and transformation of our welfare, am delighted that our employees are committed to our key agenda of effecting the fruits of devolution.

DAY 2 OF STAFF FARMILIARIZATION AND ENGAGEMENT AT THE SUB-COUNTY LEVEL

Had a session with our staff attached to the Emuhaya Sub County Offices this being our 2nd station.

This exercise will enhance our service delivery as the County Government of Vihiga and therefore all the arising matters will be put into consideration for necessary action and improvement of our staff welfare.

It is important to note that Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo has a keen interest in service delivery and staff welfare thus my committed support to this noble course.

Kicked off my staff engagement sessions today in Luanda Sub County.

The 5 days exercise basically aims at getting views and opinions from our employees as the County Government of Vihiga for purposes of addressing their welfare and creating a better working environment for effective service delivery to the mwananchi across the County.

The programme will also help me to fulfil my performance contracting (PC) commitment, which we signed a week ago, in ensuring Governor Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo implements his promises to the residents of Vihiga in line with his manifesto.
