A powerful Sunday in Ugenya!

Hon. David Ouma Ochieng, MDG Party Leader and Ugenya MP, joined faithfuls at Ukwala Catholic Church for worship before spearheading a successful fundraising drive towards the completion of the church building.

Addressing congregants, Hon. Ochieng called on Luo leaders to embrace unity and continue supporting H.E. President William Ruto’s development agenda as the country looks ahead to the next electoral cycle. He expressed confidence that the people of Siaya are ready for transformative leadership, reaffirming his belief that a new chapter awaits the county and that he is prepared to lead it as the next Governor of Siaya.

MDG Party Leader and Ugenya constituency MP Hon David Ouma Ochieng who is also a member of the National Assembly speakers panel attending the Extra-Ordinary Meeting of the Bureau of East African Community Speakers and Clerks of National Parliaments, at the EAC headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, chaired by Senate speaker Rt. Hon. Amason Jeffa Kingi convened to discuss the annual sports gala that brings together legislators from all parliaments in the EAC Members States.

During the meeting, the Speakers resolved that this year's East African Inter-Parliamentary Games, hosted on a rotational basis in December every year, be hosted by the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) in the city of Arusha.

Strengthening parties. Deepening democracy. Building inclusive participation.

Through its Programmes & Partnerships and Women Affairs Directorates, the MDG Party participated in a high-level peer-learning engagement under the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) programme, bringing together leaders and representatives from both MDG and UDA.

The interactive session provided a platform for exchanging best practices on political party institutional strengthening, with a focus on enhancing organisational systems, promoting meaningful citizen engagement particularly among Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and advancing effective mechanisms for member participation, feedback, and accountability.

Hosted at the UDA Party Headquarters by Director for Women Affairs, Dr. Margaret Ndanyi, the engagement underscored the importance of collaboration in building resilient, responsive, and people-centered political parties. The WFD delegation was led by Kenya Country Director Ms. Maureen Oduori, while the MDG Party delegation was represented by Executive Director Mr. Mike Oliewo.

The engagement forms part of the ongoing partnership between political parties and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy aimed at fostering stronger institutions, inclusive governance, and democratic growth in Kenya.

MDG Party Leader Hon. David Ouma Ochieng showed up and showed out at the Budget and Appropriations Committee sitting!

He strongly backed JLAC’s massive Sh33.4 billion proposal for IEBC and a serious boost in justice sector funding clearing the way for full election preparedness, pending bills, more judiciary staff, efficient prison operations, and stronger human rights institutions.

2027 is coming… and Hon. Ochieng is already locking it down!
