Jacinta Muok, an Agripreneur from Sidindi Ward, Ugunja Sub-County, has earned national recognition after emerging as Kenyaโs second-best-performing Agripreneur at the Agriculture and Food Systems Transformation Summit 2026, held at ASK Jamhuri Showgrounds in Nairobi. Her achievement among more than 7,000 Agripreneurs across 33 counties is a proud moment for Siaya County and a testament to the growing potential of young people in agribusiness.
The Agripreneur Model leverages technology and youth-led extension services to strengthen agricultural knowledge transfer, promote agribusiness and empower farmers. Siaya County has approximately 150 Agripreneurs supporting agricultural extension and agribusiness development. Jacinta, a graduate in Animal Production and Health Management, also operates a poultry enterprise, stocking approximately 1,000 broilers per production cycle.
Also recognised were Kevin Onyango, an Animal Health Assistant from South East Alego, who ranked fifth nationally among Veterinary Paraprofessionals, and Beatrice Okoth, an Agripreneur from Usonga Ward, who ranked second nationally among Data Assistants. Both were recognised for their contributions to implementing the e-voucher cattle vaccination subsidy programme.
These achievements reflect Siaya Countyโs growing agricultural innovation and the important role of young professionals in strengthening extension services, improving livestock production and transforming the agricultural sector towards a food-secure and commercially oriented future.
