Following the recent cabinet reshuffle that also translated down to Chief Officers as directed by Governor James Orengo, the department of Public Works, Roads, Energy, Transport & Infrastructure successfully conducted the handing over Ceremony on October 16, 2024.

Dr. Nicholas K*t, has been moved to the docket of Transport and Energy as Chief Officer from the docket of Youth Affairs, Gender and Social Services.

He promises to be up to task in overseeing the development of long term energy plan, maintenance and expansion of energy data system, capacity building the department, ensuring that regulation of ferries and harbors are adhered to and equally advocating for policy reforms in the energy sector.

The former office holder of Energy and Transport docket Mr. Kevin Ajuul has been moved to the office of Public Works and Roads in the same capacity.

It is worth noting that the CEC Member for the department Mr. George Nying'iro has been deployed as acting CECM for Finance and Economic Planning. He succeeds Mr. Benedict Omollo whereas retains his substantive post as the CECM - Public Works, Roads, Energy & Transport

President William Ruto today laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Alego Usonga Affordable Housing Project, an 882-unit residential facility that will offer modern living spaces equipped with essential amenities and infrastructure.
The president in the company of his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Siaya Governor James Orengo also laid down the foundation stone for the construction of the first Economic Stimulus Programme Modern Market.
The market will consist of 8 different units among them are a cold room, mother's room, control room, transformer room, refuse unit e.t.c
It will see atleast 1000 traders achieve good income potential and also boost food security.

Today Governor James Orengo presided over the launch of two complete sets of axle load weighing instruments to address key challenges related to road management and transport regulation. The primary objective of this acquisition is to minimize damage to county roads and other government roads caused by overloaded vehicles. This will be achieved by ensuring that trucks comply with weight regulations to enhance the lifespan of the infrastructure and reduce the need for frequent repairs.

Yala Sub-County Hospital road that was set to be upgraded to bitumen standards is complete and already in use.
The upgrade to bitumen standard of this road forms part of Governor Orengo Administration's strategic agenda of developing Siaya urban towns to make them inclusive and friendly for all.
This will in turn spur the county's sustainable socio-economic growth through strategic investment, increased productivity and innovation.

The construction of Bondo Sub-County Hospital Mortuary that was a key goal in the Nyalore Administration's commitment to improving healthcare is progressing well.
The mortuary is to be upgraded to better standards that is well equipped.
Engineers together with the county officers were on ground to check on the progress and inspect the scope of works done.

The commitment to revamp Migwena grounds in Bondo Sub-County into a modern stadium is already giving new looks with some of the works nearing completion.
The Nyalore Administration is committed to upgrade Migwena grounds which is a significant heritage to the people of Siaya County.
The ground hosts annual cultural and sports activities.
County officers together with engineers visited the site to inspect the ongoing works.

The proposed construction of Accident/Emergency and Maternity/Theatre Complex at Yala Sub-County Hospital in Siaya County is leveling up well.
The scope of works that involved demolition and re-allocation construction of the complex is set to double the hospital's capacity and provide a state-of-the-art theatre complex that is complete with theatre space. It will also enhance the quality of maternal newborns and child health services at the hospital.

Siaya Aggregation and Industrial Park project that is co-funded by Governor Orengo's Nyalore administration with the National Government is swiftly taking shape.
The industrial park involves the construction of 4 Aggregation Warehouses and Cold Storages, 4 Value Addition Warehouses, Boundary Wall, Office Block, Power House, Sentry House, Pump House, Ablution Block, Civil Works, Electrical Installations and Power Connection, Mechanical/Plumbing works to specifications.
During our routine inspection, we noted some progress which includes;
-Blinding that was ongoing satisfactorily
-Er****on of steel column and rafters that was 90% complete
-Fabrication for Purlins and Tie beams
-Materials delivered on site and work ongoing

The upgrade to bitumen standard of Kababa-Siaya Central Primary School Road that forms part of the Nyalore Administration's bold strategic urbanization agenda of developing Siaya County is progressing well.

The upgrade is set to improve smooth access to schools, health facilities, markets, bolster trade and facilitate the movement of people within the area.

The project also entails the construction of access culverts to the facilities.
Development of drainage systems and soil erosion protection works will also provide for the control of the storm waters.
