Uwezo Fund in collaboration with MP Ugunja Constituency, had issued cheques totaling 3.1 million Ksh to Uwezo Fund Group beneficiaries Phase 7 at the Ugunja CDF Office.
Notably, Ugunja Constituency boasts a repayment rate of 60.18%.
Ugunja Constituency has received a cumulatively allocation of Kshs of 20,530,434 which has grown to kshs 37,130,000 through revolving.The absorption for the Constituency is 100% with a repayment rate of 60.%
This amount was distributed among 28 groups, consisting of 27 new groups and 1 refinancing group. Each new group received cheques worth 100,000 Ksh, while the refinancing group received 400,000 Ksh as it was a repeat beneficiary.
This substantial sum has been disbursed to 2,033 groups and institutions, benefiting 1,291 women's groups, 693 youth groups, and 49 PWD groups. In total, 30,693 individuals in the c Constituency have benefited from this initiative.
One remarkable success story is the Lilo Self-Help Group, which has today received Ksh 400,000/= in the third phase with an initial loan advancement of 100,000 Ksh in 2017 and 200,000 Ksh in the second phase in 2019.
The group utilized these funds to expand their table banking and poultry ventures, including the purchase of kienyeji chickens. They sell eggs, mature chickens, and use the chicken and eggs for domestic consumption.
The sales income is reinvested in the table banking, contributing to the growth of their poultry business and individual businesses while expanding their table banking efforts.
