THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN.
We have been talking about boarding schools, pressure and school culture.
But can we also talk about parenting? 💜

Have some of us, as parents, slowly outsourced our responsibility?
Are we expecting teachers to parent our children?
And have teachers, overwhelmed by their own realities, decided
"We will teach and go home"?

Have we over-pampered our children with "kababa" and "kamama" until resilience, empathy, accountability and emotional strength are becoming rare?
Or on the other side…
Have we exposed them to so much pressure, pain, anger, emotional neglect and harshness that hurting others is slowly becoming normalised?

Are we still our brothers' and sisters' keepers as a nation?
Because whatever is happening to us as adults…
is dripping down to our children.
Maybe the conversation is not only about schools.
Maybe it is also about homes.
Families.
Parenting.
And society itself.

🎭 BEHIND THE CURTAIN | Episode 1

LET'S HAVE AN HONEST CONVERSATION.

I just can't keep calm.

Our children hurting themselves. Hurting others. Breaking down emotionally. Living under silent pressure.
This is not something we can normalise anymore.

What is really happening inside some of our boarding schools?
Are our children silently drowning under pressure, fear, emotional exhaustion, identity struggles, competition, bullying, loneliness and cultures we are too uncomfortable to talk about?

Before mock exams… anxiety rises. Pressure rises. Expectations rise.
But what is happening to the mental and emotional wellbeing of our children?

The generation we are parenting today is not the generation we were.
Yet many of us still carry the old mindset:
"We suffered and survived, so they must also suffer to succeed."
But must success come through emotional suffering?
Must discipline come through fear?
Must a child break down before we call them hardworking?

And can we honestly talk about the culture in some boarding schools?
The hidden hierarchies.
The silent bullying.
The emotional survival mechanisms.
The unhealthy coping patterns.
The peer pressure.
The things children carry but are afraid to say.
Are we handing our children over to systems that need deeper conversations and reform, while comforting ourselves that "this is just boarding school life"?

Parents. Educators. Policymakers. Faith leaders.
Are we willing to face the giant in the room?
Not defensively.
Not politically.
Honestly.
Because when children begin showing signs of emotional distress, identity struggles, aggression, burnout, isolation or hopelessness, we cannot simply discuss grades, discipline and performance and move on.
We must look behind the curtain.

Are we raising high-performing children but silently wounded humans?
This conversation may be uncomfortable.
But it is necessary. 💜
