Today, I joined European Union Ambassador Henriette Geiger and French Ambassador Arnaud Suquet in commissioning the EU-funded Green Mini-Grid in Locher-Emoit, a key investment that will bring reliable, clean energy to residents and power businesses, schools, and health facilities.

This project shows the impact of strong partnerships in accelerating development and improving livelihoods. Reliable electricity is opening new opportunities for enterprise, creating jobs, enhancing service delivery, and supporting our vision for inclusive economic growth across Turkana.

I sincerely thank the European Union, the Government of France, the United Kingdom, and all our development partners for their continued collaboration and commitment to improving the lives of the residents of Turkana.

Today, together with UNHCR Country Representative Fatima Mohamed, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on achieving self-reliance and strengthening protection through the integrated resilience and empowerment of refugees and host communities.

The agreement, implemented under the Kalobeyei Integrated Socio-Economic Development Programme (KISEDP), will support investments in critical areas such as water infrastructure, road connectivity, and economic opportunities to improve livelihoods and promote peaceful coexistence.

As we implement the Shirika Plan, the County Government remains committed to inclusive service delivery and sustainable development that benefits both host communities and refugees, fostering resilience, shared prosperity, and long-term stability.

Made a stopover in Kachoda following the conclusion of the Madaraka Day celebrations in Lokitaung.

We remain committed to promoting politics of peace and mutual respect, while focusing our energy on development delivery and service to the people. I'm a strong believer that leadership should be a contest of ideology, not division.

I was accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr John Erus, Woman Representative Cecilia Ng'itit, Turkana East MP Nicholas Ng'ikor, Speaker Charles Lokiyoto, Special Peace Envoy for the Ateker Region John Munyes, former Turkana Central MP John Lodepe and a host of Members of the County Assembly.

Today in Lokitaung, I joined residents of Turkana North in marking the 63rd Madaraka Day celebrations at Lokitaung Stadium. The celebration in Lokitaung was both historic and deeply symbolic as the town is closely linked to Kenya’s struggle for independence.

I took the opportunity to highlight ongoing development efforts across Turkana North aimed at improving access to water, strengthening food security, expanding healthcare services, supporting education, and opening up opportunities for trade and enterprise. These investments are steadily transforming livelihoods and laying a stronger foundation for inclusive growth.

Our commitment is to ensure that development reaches every ward and every household, and that no part of Turkana is left behind.

This morning, I visited and inspected operations at Lokitaung Sub-County Hospital and engaged healthcare workers on the challenges and opportunities within the facility.

Strengthening healthcare services at the sub-county level remains a key priority of my administration. By investing in health facilities closer to our people, we are improving access to quality care, reducing referrals, and ensuring residents receive timely medical services.

I commend the health workers serving in Lokitaung for their dedication and commitment to the wellbeing of our people.
