UDA Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan today hosted Mr. Zhang Zhizhong, Deputy Ambassador and Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Kenya, for a courtesy visit at Hustler Plaza.

The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between Kenya and China. Discussions highlighted cooperation in infrastructure development, trade, investment, and other key sectors that continue to contribute to Kenya's economic growth.

Sen. Hassan Omar reaffirmed the importance of enhancing collaboration between the two nations to promote shared prosperity, sustainable development, and stronger people-to-people ties.

Also present were Mr. Sun Yinan, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Xie Zheng, Third Secretary at the Chinese Embassy, UDA Director of Programs Daniel Kiptoo, and Advisor to the Secretary General, Sabastian Mwangangi.

NYAHURURU SAFARI TRAIN RETURNS AFTER 46 YEARS

Thousands of residents lined up to witness the historic return of the Nyahururu Safari Train, restoring passenger rail services after a 46-year break.

During the launch, Hon. Moses Kuria and Philip Mainga flagged off a fertilizer freight train, marking the start of cargo and passenger operations along the Nairobi–Gilgil–Ol Kalou–Nyahururu route.

The revived railway is expected to boost trade, tourism, and agriculture by providing affordable, reliable transport while lowering logistics costs for farmers and businesses. The project aligns with President William Ruto's Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, aimed at driving economic growth, job creation, and regional development through modern infrastructure.
