The County Assembly of Homa Bay today hosted Grade 6 students from Migosi Comprehensive School for an educational session in the Plenary Chamber aimed at providing firsthand insight into the operations of devolved government.
The session, led by Senior Clerk Assistants Mr. Tobias Opana and Mr. Duncan Ochieng, focused on the Assemblyโs core mandates of representation, legislation, and oversight as provided for under Chapter 11 of the Constitution of Kenya.
During the visit, the students were taken through the layout and structure of the Chamber, where they learned about the roles of the Majority and Minority sides, as well as the distinction between the County Assembly and the County Executive. The discussions also highlighted the County Governmentโs responsibilities in key sectors such as healthcare, trade, agriculture, and Early Childhood Development (ECD).
Accompanied by Madam Eliza Odigo and other teachers, the students gained practical knowledge on how voting, debate, and budget-making processes within the Assembly influence policy formulation and service delivery to the people of Homa Bay County
