🚧 DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS FOR GATUNDU MUNICIPALITY 🚧

Culverts and other drainage materials have been delivered and will be installed in the coming days to address drainage challenges in affected sections of Gatundu Municipality.

The works will enhance stormwater management, reduce flooding, protect road infrastructure from water damage, and support the sustainability of ongoing roads improvement projects.

The County Government of Kiambu, under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi, remains committed to investing in infrastructure that improves mobility, safeguards public assets, and enhances the quality of life for residents.

♻️ IMPROVING WASTE MANAGEMENT IN KARATU SHOPPING CENTRE ♻️

The County Government of Kiambu, through the Department of Environment, has enhanced waste management services in Karatu Shopping Centre with the placement of a litter skip to support proper waste collection and disposal.

The initiative is part of H.E. Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi's ongoing commitment to creating cleaner, healthier and more sustainable urban centres across Kiambu County.

The litter skip will provide residents and businesses with a convenient waste disposal point, helping to improve sanitation, reduce littering and maintain a cleaner environment for all.

Gatundu Municipality encourages residents and traders to make proper use of the facility and continue working together towards a clean and green municipality.

🚜 The Boresha Bara Bara Programme by H.E. Governor Dr. Kimani Wamatangi has officially been rolled out!

Grading works are currently ongoing on the Kiriko-Gituamba Shopping Centre Access Road in Gituamba Ward, Gatundu North, marking the beginning of a wider road rehabilitation programme across Kiambu County.

We know that many access roads have become difficult to use, particularly during the rainy season. The good news is that works have now commenced and will continue across wards and municipalities in phases.

Your road may not be first, but it is in the plan. A little more patience and we will soon be working on the road that takes you home, to your farm, business, school, or place of worship.

Better roads mean easier movement, improved access to markets and services, and a stronger local economy.

🚜 Road rehabilitation works have officially begun in Kiambu County!

Kamunyu B residents mko? Grading and compaction of Kamunyu B Access Road in Ngenda Ward, Gatundu South, is currently underway as part of the County Government of Kiambu's comprehensive programme to rehabilitate access roads across the county.
We understand that many of our roads have become difficult to use, especially during the rainy season. The good news is that works have now commenced across all municipalities and will continue in phases.

Your area may not be first, but it is in the plan. A little more patience and we will soon be working on the access road that takes you home.

🌍🍃 World Environment Day 2026; Gatundu Municipality 🍃🌍

Yesterday, Gatundu Municipality joined the rest of the world in marking World Environment Day 2026, under the global theme “Beating Plastic Waste.”

As part of the commemoration, the Municipal Manager, Ms. Ruth Waweru, flagged off a community-led tree planting exercise at Gatundu Children’s Home, organized by Thimo Ciitu Youth Group, whose wider impact program featured:
🌱 Tree planting
🧹 Environmental clean-up
📚 Waste management awareness training
🏥 Free medical camp
🏡 Outreach support to Gatundu Children’s Home

This initiative reflects the power of partnership between government and community in building a cleaner, greener, and healthier Gatundu for present and future generations.

We were honoured to relay a message from the Governor on the Greening Kiambu Agenda, which continues to guide our local climate action efforts. A key highlight is the ongoing transition to clean, renewable energy infrastructure, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights only, with no new grid-connected streetlights being rolled out going forward.
We appreciate all stakeholders, especially our youth groups, for taking a leading role in environmental stewardship.

Together, we move from awareness to action. 🌿
