From burning charcoal to breaking world records.
Agnes Jebet Ngetich was born on January 23, 2001, in Elgeyo Marakwet County
, Agnes lost her father at just 12 years old.
Her family was plunged into deep poverty, forcing her to leave school several times to help her mother burn charcoal and work on local farms just to survive.
Her life changed when her talent was spotted while working on a farm and gave her the opportunity to train.
🏆 First woman ever to run under 29 minutes for 10km on the road (28:46).
🏆 Holder of the women's-only 10km world record (29:27).
🥇 2026 World Cross Country Champion, winning by a remarkable 42 seconds.
🏆 2026 New York Mini 10K champion and course record holder.
