Today, I joined family, friends, and leaders in Kisii County for the final send-off of the late Professor Mable Nangami, a dedicated leader whose contribution to the health sector will remain etched in our hearts for generations.

Until her demise, Prof. Mable served diligently as the Chairperson of the Bungoma County and Referral Hospital Board, where she played a pivotal role in strengthening healthcare service delivery and championing quality medical care for our people. Her wisdom, professionalism, and commitment to humanity greatly transformed the health sector in Bungoma County.

As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well lived a life of service, compassion, and leadership. Her legacy will continue to inspire many in the medical fraternity and beyond.

My heartfelt condolences go to her family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives she touched. May God grant them strength and comfort during this difficult moment.

The Bible reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

May her soul rest in eternal peace.

Today, I had the pleasure of hosting the Chairperson of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), Charles Dulo, in my office for a fruitful engagement on strengthening service delivery and enhancing good governance in Bungoma County.

We discussed key issues touching on accountability, transparency, protection of wananchi rights, and improving efficiency in public service delivery.

I reaffirmed our commitment as a county to building responsive institutions that serve our people with integrity, fairness, and professionalism

My dear people of Bungoma,

Today, as the world celebrates Mother’s Day, I join millions across the globe in paying tribute to the strongest pillars of our homes, the silent heroes of our communities, and the beating heart of our society — our mothers.

To every mother in Bungoma County, I say thank you.

Thank you for the sacrifices you make every single day. Thank you for the sleepless nights, the silent prayers, the tears you hide behind your smiles, and the endless love you pour into your children and families even when you have little for yourselves.

A mother carries the weight of the family with grace. She nurtures dreams, comforts pain, and keeps hope alive even in the darkest moments. Many of us stand where we are today because a mother believed in us when nobody else did.

Today, I also pause in a special way to remember my own dear mother who went to be with the Lord. Though she is no longer with us physically, her love, wisdom, values, and prayers continue to guide me every day. Like many of you who have lost your mothers, I understand that no matter how much time passes, the space left by a mother can never truly be filled.

As we celebrate this day, we also honour all mothers who have departed from us. Their legacy lives on through the lives they touched, the families they raised, and the values they instilled in us.

To the single mothers, widows, grandmothers raising children, and every woman carrying the burden of parenthood with courage and dignity — we see you, we appreciate you, and we celebrate you.

As a county, we must continue to protect, empower, and uplift our mothers because when a mother rises, the family rises; when the family rises, the community prospers; and when communities prosper, Bungoma prospers.

May God bless all the mothers of Bungoma with strength, good health, peace, and long life.

Happy Mother’s Day.

May love surround you today and always.

Thank you, and God bless Bungoma County.

Rt. Hon. Kenneth Lusaka
Governor, Bungoma County

Today, I officially opened the Chemoge High Altitude Training Centre, a modern facility that will nurture athletic talent in Bungoma and the wider region.

The event was crowned by an exciting Mt. Elgon Half Marathon that brought together athletes and sports lovers from across the country.

This centre marks our commitment to empowering youth, promoting sports excellence, and positioning Bungoma as a hub for athletics tourism and talent development

I joined fellow leaders at the Busia Polytechnic Grounds for a boda boda empowerment forum hosted by my brother Governor Paul Otuoma, where I reaffirmed my support for President William Ruto and his transformative development agenda for our country.

I noted that key projects such as the Rironi–Mau Summit–Malaba dual carriageway and the Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba SGR extension are set to unlock immense economic opportunities for Western Kenya through improved trade, connectivity, and investment.

I also encouraged our boda boda operators to make prudent use of the empowerment funds issued to grow their businesses, create jobs, and uplift their livelihoods.

Together, we are building a stronger and more prosperous Western Kenya.

Last evening, I joined stakeholders during a meeting to operationalize the Ndengelwa GBV Centre, where I reaffirmed my commitment to ending Gender-Based Violence in Bungoma County.

The time for endless talk is over — we must now take decisive action to protect survivors, strengthen justice systems, and hold perpetrators accountable. My administration is also exploring ways of waiving P3 form costs for GBV survivors to ensure justice is accessible to all.

Let us raise responsible sons, protect the dignity of women and girls, and stand together in saying enough is enough.

Officially commissioned the Ndengelwa Resource Center in Bukembe West Ward, a project funded by the County Government of Bungoma through the Community Empowerment Fund (CEF).

The facility, equipped with ICT services, internet connectivity, and a library, will empower our youth, students, and entrepreneurs with access to digital opportunities, knowledge, and innovation.

My administration remains committed to investing in community-driven projects that transform lives and bridge the digital divide across Bungoma County.

Today, I held a successful consultative engagement at the Kenya Railways Headquarters to deliberate on the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) extension and advocate for the inclusion of Myanga in Bumula as a sub-station along the proposed route.

While the initial expansion plan had left out Myanga, our constructive discussions yielded encouraging indications that this position will be reviewed, with the area now under serious consideration.

The inclusion of Myanga will mark a significant milestone for Bungoma County by enhancing connectivity, unlocking trade opportunities, and easing the movement of people and goods.

It will directly benefit farmers, traders, and investors through improved access to markets and increased economic activity. I remain committed to ensuring Bungoma is fully integrated into national infrastructure development for the benefit of our people.
