５月２７日（水）、自衛艦隊司令官大町克士海将は、米海軍第７艦隊ラタス大佐に感謝状を贈呈しました。
ラタス大佐は、令和６年６月に着任以来、自衛艦隊司令部と緊密に意思疎通し、海上自衛隊と米海軍とのロジスティクスの強化に大きく寄与されました。特に、日米におけるロジスティクスの現状と問題点に関して、自衛艦隊司令部と適時適切に必要な情報共有により、効果的かつ効率的な作戦能力の強化につながりました。
自衛艦隊は、司令官からスタッフレベル、現場部隊に至るまで平素から米海軍と緊密に連携し共に行動することであらゆる事態への即応態勢を維持するとともに我が国の防衛及びインド太平洋地域の平和と安定に貢献しています。

On 27 May, VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet presented a letter of commendation to CAPT Gene LATTUS, U.S. 7th Fleet.
Since June 2024, as a staff officer of the U.S. 7th Fleet, he made significant contributions to the advancement of logistics capabilities between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) and the U.S. Navy, displaying a strong sense of responsibility, and a wealth of knowledge and experience. In particular, he shared information on the current status and challenges of logistics between Japan and the U.S. in a timely and appropriate manner to Self Defense Fleet. His efforts greatly contributed to the enhancement of our capability to execute effective and efficient operations through close Japan-U.S. cooperation.
The Self Defense Fleet will continue to work closely with the U.S. Navy, from the commander to the staff and unit levels, and act together to maintain readiness and immediately respond to any contingencies, contributing to the defense of Japan and peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.

５月２０日（水）、自衛艦隊司令官大町克士海将は、海上作戦センターにて、フィリピン海軍司令官ホセ・マリア・アンブロシオ・エスペレタ海軍中将の表敬を受けました。
フィリピンは、南シナ海やルソン海峡といった我が国にとって重要なシーレーンに面しており、フィリピンとの連携および同国の沿岸監視能力や海洋状況把握（ＭＤＡ（Maritime Domain Awareness））能力の強化は、これらのシーレーンの安全を確保する上で重要です。近年、フィリピンとの間では海上協同活動としての共同訓練を実施するなど、防衛協力の実効性および相互運用性の強化を進めています。
自衛艦隊は、即応態勢を維持し、我が国の防衛のみならず、「自由で開かれたインド太平洋」の実現に向けて、同盟国・同志国海軍と協働して、インド太平洋地域の平和と安定に寄与しています。

On 20 May, VADM Jose Maria Ambrosio Q. EZPELETA, Flag Officer in Command, Philippine Navy visited VADM OMACHI Katsushi, Commander, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operation Center.
The Philippines faces important sea lanes for Japan, such as the South China Sea and the Luzon Strait and cooperation with the Philippines and strengthening of its coastal surveillance and maritime domain awareness (MDA) capabilities are important to ensure the security of these sea lanes. Currently, Japan and the Philippines are focused on enhancing the effectiveness of defense cooperation and interoperability through the bilateral exercises carried out as maritime cooperative activity (MCA).
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.

５月１４日（木）豪国防大学の訪問団が海上作戦センターを訪問し、自衛艦隊司令官を表敬しました。
オーストラリアは、普遍的価値のみならず安全保障上の戦略的利益を共有するインド太平洋地域の『特別な戦略的パートナー』であり、日豪関係はかつてないほど強固で重要なものとなっています。
厳しさを増す安全保障環下において、自衛隊と豪国防軍の連携のみならず、日豪海軍種間の関係も年々深化しています。自衛艦隊は引き続き、こうした交流機会を通じて、同志国との連携及び相互理解の増進を図っていきます。

On 14 May, the Australian War College delegation visited the Maritime Operation Center and had an office call with VADM OHMACHI Katsushi, Commander of the Self Defense Fleet.
Australia is our ‘Special Strategic Partner’ in the Indo-Pacific region, sharing not only universal values but also strategic security interests with us. Today, Japan-Australia relationship is becoming much closer and more important than ever.
As Japan’s security environment is becoming even severer and the collaboration between the JMSDF and the Australian Defence Force is becoming even closer. Self Defense Fleet will strengthen the collaboration with like-minded countries and promote mutual understanding through defense exchanges.

５月１４日（木）、自衛艦隊司令官が、海上作戦センターにて、赤十字国際委員会（ＩＣＲＣ）駐日代表の榛澤祥子氏の表敬を受けました。
随行者としてＩＣＲＣ駐日代表部軍事顧問マイケル・ピンブル氏及び駐日代表部人道調整顧問早瀬竜也氏も来訪されました。
ＩＣＲＣは、有事における文民保護や国際人道法遵守に係る取組み等に関する豊富な知見及び経験を有しており、表敬に際し、今後の関係強化に関する意見交換を行いました。

On 14 May, Head of Delegation in Japan International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Ms. HANZAWA Shoko visited VADM OHMACHI Katsushi, Commander of the Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operations Center.
As part of the delegation, the ICRC's Mr. Michael Pymble (Military Advisor) and Mr. HAYASE Tatsuya (Humanitarian Affairs Advisor) also visited us.
The ICRC has extensive knowledge and experience in civilian protection and compliance with international humanitarian law in wartime. During this courtesy call, we exchanged views on strengthening our future cooperation.

５月１２日（火）、自衛艦隊幕僚長が、海上作戦センターにて、ベトナム海軍副参謀長ゴー・ディン・スエン上級大佐の表敬を受けました。
ベトナムとは、地域や国際社会の平和と安定に、より積極的に貢献するため、防衛協力を推進しています。表敬に際し、日越関係者間で今後の日越交流に関する意見交換を行いました。

On 12 May, Senior Captain Ngo Dinh XUYEN, Deputy Chief of Staff, Vietnam People’s Navy visited RADM SATO Masahiro, Chief of Staff, Self Defense Fleet at the Maritime Operation Center.
The JMSDF is promoting defense exchanges with the Vietnam People’s Navy, championing regional peace and stability as a proactive driving force. During discussions, both sides actively exchanged opinions on future cooperation prospects.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.

４月１０日(金)から５月８日（金）までの間、護衛艦「いせ」、「いかづち」、輸送艦「しもきた」及び第７１航空隊所属のＵＳ－２救難機が、比周辺海空域において米比主催多国間共同訓練（バリカタン２６）に参加しました。
多国間海上訓練、水陸両用作戦訓練、統合衛生訓練等を通じて戦術技量の向上及び同盟国・同志国との連携強化を図りました。日米比は今後も引き続き連携を強化し、望ましい安全保障環境の創出に寄与していきます。
自衛艦隊は、即応態勢を維持し、我が国の防衛のみならず、「自由で開かれたインド太平洋」の実現に向けて、同盟国・同志国海軍と協働して、インド太平洋地域の平和と安定に貢献しています。

From April 10 to May 8, 2026, JS Ise, JS Ikazuchi, JS Shimokita, and one US-2 from Air Rescue Squadron 71 of the JMSDF participated in BALIKATAN 26, a Multilateral Exercise in waters and airspace in the vicinity of the Philippines.
Through Multinational Maritime Exercise, Amphibious Operations Exercise, and Joint Medical Operations Exercise, the ships and aircraft developed tactical proficiency as well as enhanced collaboration with allied and like-minded countries. The JMSDF, the U.S. Navy, and the Philippine Navy will continue to build stronger ties and create a desirable security environment.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.

４月２４日（金）、英統合軍指揮参謀学校の訪問団が海上作戦センターを訪問し、自衛艦隊司令官を表敬しました。
厳しさを増す安全保障環下において、自衛隊と英国軍の連携のみならず、日英海軍種間の関係も年々深化しています。自衛艦隊は引き続き、こうした交流機会を通じて、同志国との連携及び相互理解の増進を図っていきます。

On 24 April, the UK Joint Services Command and Staff College delegation visited the Maritime Operation Center and had an office call with VADM OHMACHI Katsushi, Commander of the Self Defense Fleet.
As Japan’s security environment is becoming increasingly severe, the two countries have been enhancing not only the cooperation between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the British Armed Forces but also the one between the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Royal Navy. The Self Defense Fleet will continue to strengthen the collaboration with like-minded countries and promote mutual understanding through such defense exchanges.

情報作戦集団は、４月１０日(金)から１４日(火)までの間、豪海軍基地においてブルースペクトラム２６－１演習に参加しました。
本演習は、日米豪情報戦部隊間の連携強化並びに米海軍及び豪海軍情報戦部隊との相互運用性の向上を目的としています。本演習を通じ、日米豪情報戦関係者の連携を強化するとともに、情報戦に係る計画立案能力及び戦術技量を向上させました。
情報戦への対応は、将来にわたり我が国防衛を万全とするために不可欠な取組です。自衛艦隊及び情報作戦集団は、即応態勢を維持するとともに、同盟国・同志国海軍と協働して、インド太平洋地域の平和と安定に寄与しています。

From April 10 to 14, 2026, Information Warfare Command (IWC) of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) participated in Blue Spectrum 26-1 in Australia.
Blue Spectrum aims to improve the JMSDF, the United States Navy, and the Royal Australian Navy’s trilateral Information Warfare (IW) cooperation and interoperability. During the exercise, the three countries’ IW specialists enhanced their planning capabilities and technical expertise while deepening their relationships.
Stepping up efforts to ensure our IW capabilities is essential to protect our nation now and in the future. The Self Defense Fleet and the IWC will continue to maintain readiness and capabilities and contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region by closely collaborating with allied and partner navies.

３月９日（月）から２４日（火）までの間、第３航空隊所属のＰ－１哨戒機が、グアム島周辺にて、令和７年度米海軍主催固定翼哨戒機多国間共同訓練（シードラゴン２０２６）に参加しました。この訓練は、例年開催されている対潜水艦戦の多国間共同訓練であり、戦術飛行及び各国哨戒機間の情報交換等を通じて戦術技量の向上を図りました。また、訓練、意見交換、各種交流行事を通じて、参加国海空軍との連携強化及び相互理解の深化を図ることができました。
シードラゴンの特徴は、国別対抗で戦術技量を競い合う「競技」要素がある点にあります。海上自衛隊の参加は、昨年に引き続き今年で７回目となりました。海上自衛隊参加部隊は、技量を存分に発揮し今次訓練において優勝という輝かしい成果を獲得しました。我々は今後も引き続きこうした訓練を通じて、同盟国・同志国海軍等との連携を強化し、友好親善を促進することで、自由で開かれたインド太平洋の維持に貢献していきます。

From 9 to 24 March 2026, a P-1 from Fleet Air Wing 3 participated in the U.S. Navy-hosted multilateral exercise SEA DRAGON 2026 in the vicinity of Guam. SEA DRAGON is an annual, multilateral anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise which the JMSDF sends its fixed-wing aircraft and crew to enhance tactical capabilities through tactical flights and information exchange with units from other navies and air forces. By flying together, the JMSDF strengthened cooperation and deepened mutual understanding with the participating navies and air forces.
SEA DRAGON is a competition-style joint exercise for fixed-wing aircraft, in which units from participating countries compete and train their tactical ASW capabilities. Starting in 2020, this marks the 7th consecutive year of the JMSDF's participation in SEA DRAGON. A P-1 and its crew from Fleet Air Wing 3 delivered an outstanding performance with technical expertise, securing victory in SEA DRAGON 2026. The JMSDF will continue contributing to the maintenance of a Free and Open Indo-Pacific by fostering goodwill and friendship with the navies of allies and like-minded nations through multilateral exercises.

３月１７日（火）から２１日（土）までの間、護衛艦「あきづき」、補給艦「はまな」は東シナ海にて、豪海軍フリゲート艦「トゥーンバ」とともに日豪共同訓練（日豪トライデント）を実施しました。本訓練を通じて、海上自衛隊の戦術技量の向上及びオーストラリア海軍との連携の強化を図りました。

From 17 to 21 March, JS AKIZUKI, JS HAMANA conducted a Japan-Australia bilateral exercise (Nichi-Gou Trident 26) with HMAS TOOWOOMBA in the vicinity of East China Sea. Throughout the exercise, the JMSDF worked closely with the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), strengthening cooperation and enhancing tactical capabilities.
Australia is a ‘Special Strategic Partner’ in the Indo-Pacific region, sharing not only universal values but also strategic security interests with Japan. Today, the JMSDF and the RAN has reached the stage where relationship of the two navies become closer and more important than ever before. The JMSDF will continue to strengthen the relationship with the RAN to improve security environment in the Indo-Pacific region together.

３月２１日（土）、令和８年豪州方面派遣訓練に従事中の護衛艦「くまの」は、シドニー港内において、オーストラリア海軍主催国際観艦式（ＩＦＲ２０２６）に参加しました。ＩＦＲ２０２６への参加を通じて、豪海軍を始め、参加国海軍等との相互理解の増進及び信頼関係の強化をすることができました。
国際観艦式は一般的に、各国海軍種間の国際親善の促進及び相互理解の増進等を目的として、主催国が関係国を招待し実施することが慣例です。海上自衛隊からは、護衛艦「くまの」が参加したほか、豪海軍からの公式招待を受け、海上幕僚長が参加しました。今年は、オーストラリア海軍創設１２５周年であるとともに、日豪友好協力基本条約締結５０周年という節目の年です。こうした節目の年において、「特別な戦略的パートナー」である豪海軍とより強固な関係を構築することが、この地域における平和と安定への寄与につながります。今後も、オーストラリアをはじめとした同盟国・同志国海軍等との連携を強化し、友好親善を促進することで、自由で開かれたインド太平洋の維持に貢献していきます。

On 21 March, the JMSDF destroyer JS Kumano dispatched to Australia as part of the Frigate Training 2026, participated in the KAKADU fleet review, the Royal Australian Navy International fleet review. Through this event, the JMSDF fostered mutual understanding and reinforced relationships of mutual trust with the navies present, including the host navy, the Royal Australian Navy.
In general, an international fleet review follows diplomatic procedures where the hosting nation invites navies from countries with close ties to improve and foster mutual understanding among participating forces. In this context, the Chief of Staff, the JMSDF, had the honor of participating in the KAKADU fleet review, following an official invitation from the Royal Australian Navy. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the Royal Australian Navy’s foundation and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Japan and Australia. Given the significance of this year for Australia’s diplomacy and security as well as for the Japan – Australia relationship, strengthening stronger ties with the Royal Australian Navy, a special strategic partner of the JMSDF, will contribute to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Self Defense Fleet maintains readiness and contributes to the peace and stability of the Indo-Pacific region, as well as maintaining and strengthening of its maritime order, not only for the defense of Japan but also for the realization of a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” in cooperation with allied and like-minded navies.
