【長期研修員ってどんな人㉔】
ケニア出身のエズラさんは、看護師として働く中で「病気になる前に守る予防の重要性」を痛感し、公衆衛生を学ぶためJICA長期研修に応募して来日しました。現在は聖路加国際大学大学院で、3〜4歳児の就学に向けた基礎がどれくらい整っているかを、UNICEFの指標を用いて測定する研究に取り組んでいます。日本での生活は、授業や留学生との交流、JICAの文化イベントへの参加を通じて充実した毎日を過ごしているそうです。将来はケニアで公衆衛生政策に携わり、子どもたちの教育と健康を支える仕組みづくりに貢献したいと語っていました。
＞＞JICA長期研修員とは、JICAの支援で開発途上国から日本の大学の修士課程・博士課程に在籍し、帰国後に母国の発展に重要な知見を発揮することを使命に、勉学に励んでいる方々のことです！

Ezra Odhiambo from Kenya is a master’s student at St. Luke’s International University. After working as a nurse, he became committed to preventive health and came to Japan through the JICA program. He researches the cognitive school readiness of 3–4-year-old children using UNICEF indicators, e enjoys his studies and cultural events. Ezra-san hopes to advance public health policy for children in Kenya after returning home.
＞＞”JICA Scholars” are those who come from a developing country and belong to the university in Japan to get master/doctor degree. Their goals are to contribute to the development of their home country soon! They are working hard towards their goals!
