⚠️Fake News from Thailand

Thai media have collectively spread false reports accusing Cambodia of “firing M79 gr***de launchers at Thai military positions in the area opposite Veal Intri in Preah Vihear Province.”

In response to this false information, the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence stated that the accusation was baseless and unreasonable.

“The Ministry regards these publications as deliberate misinformation and a serious distortion of facts intended to create confusion, mislead public opinion, and escalate tensions along the border,” it stated.

Moreover, in response to this disinformation campaign, the Command Post of Information of the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia issued a formal letter of protest to the Thai Joint Information Center (JIC).

Furthermore, reports from the frontline indicate that during the inaugural mission of the ASEAN Observer Team (HOM AOT)—conducted under the Philippine Chairmanship to observe, verify, and report on the situation at the Preah Vihear Temple World Heritage Site—the Thai side detonated three pieces of unexploded ordnance (UXO) without prior notification to the Cambodian side.

The Ministry of National Defence called on the Thai side to immediately cease the publication of misleading information and return to the faithful implementation of all existing agreements. Only through such honesty can both sides ensure a rapid recovery and the restoration of normalcy, peace, stability, and long-term security along the border.

⚠️⛔️Thailand Opens Fire, Then Shifts Blame to Cambodia

On 13 May 2026, Thai forces opened fire in the O’Smach border area, where they have allegedly remained illegally occupying territory despite the renewed Joint Declaration of Peace signed on 27 December 2025.

Kevin Smith, a foreign national observing the border situation, stated that Thai forces fired four rounds in the O’Smach border area while he was reporting on and observing the situation. He emphasized that he was not approaching the position occupied by Thai forces.

Later that day, Thai media accused Cambodian troops of firing 11 shots across several points along the border area. Thai authorities claimed that their forces fired two warning shots to prevent possible incidents and for security reasons.

This reflects what Cambodia views as a recurring pattern of blame-shifting by Thailand to cover up its actions. Thailand is accused of creating narratives intended to mislead the international community and justify its conduct accordingly. Cambodia fears that such accusations could be used as a pretext to initiate another conflict against Cambodia. Similar tactics were allegedly used during previous conflicts, when Thai forces opened fire on Cambodian soldiers following accusations related to landmine incidents.

Such actions clearly demonstrate that Thai forces are not adhering to the renewed Joint Declaration of Peace signed on 27 December 2025. Cambodia views Thailand’s actions as an attempt to use military force to occupy and encroach upon Cambodian territory.

អគ្គនាយកដ្ឋានកិច្ចការពារអ្នកប្រើប្រាស់ និងការប្រកួតប្រជែង «ក.ប.ប.» នៃក្រសួងពាណិជ្ជកម្ម សូមជម្រាបជូនសាធារណជនជ្រាបថា បន្ទាប់ពីមានបាតុភាពលើភាពមិនច្បាស់លាស់លើករណីទុរេនដាក់លក់នៅផ្សារ ភួ ពុយ ខេត្តបាត់ដំបង អគ្គនាយកដ្ឋាន ក.ប.ប. បានចាត់វិធានការជាបន្តបន្ទាប់ ដូចខាងក្រោម៖

១. នៅថ្ងៃទី៤ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦៖ អគ្គនាយកដ្ឋាន បានណែនាំឱ្យសាខា ក.ប.ប. ខេត្តបាត់ដំបង ចុះត្រួតពិនិត្យសម្ភាសន៍ផ្ទាល់ជាមួយអាជីវករចំនួន ៧ កន្លែងដែលដាក់លក់ទុរេន នៅផ្សារ ភួ ពុយ និងប្រមូលសំណាកគំរូទុរេនទាំងនោះ ដើម្បីបញ្ជូនមកមន្ទីរពិសោធន៍ ពិនិត្យរកសារធាតុគីមី ដែលអាចប៉ះពាល់ដល់សុខភាព សុវត្ថិភាពអ្នកប្រើប្រាស់។

២. នៅថ្ងៃទី៥ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦៖ អ្នកនាំពាក្យក្រសួងពាណិជ្ជកម្ម និងអគ្គនាយក នៃអគ្គនាយកដ្ឋាន ក.ប.ប. បានចុះទៅធ្វើការស៊ើបអង្កេតដល់ទីកន្លែងនៅខេត្តបាត់ដំបង និងរៀបចំកិច្ចប្រជុំរួមរវាងរដ្ឋបាលខេត្តបាត់ដំបងដែលមានការចូលរួមពីលោកអភិបាលរងខេត្តបាត់ដំបង ប្រធានមន្ទីរពាណិជ្ជកម្មខេត្តបាត់ដំបង ប្រធានមន្ទីរកសិកម្មខេត្តបាត់ដំបង ប្រធានសាខា ក.ប.ប. និងមន្ត្រីក្រោមឱវាទ ព្រមទាំងអាជីវករពាក់ព័ន្ធនៅផ្សារ ភួ ពុយ មួយចំនួនផងដែរ ដើម្បីស្ដាប់អំណះអំណាង និងស្វែងរកដំណោះស្រាយបន្ទាន់សម្រាប់ករណីនេះ។

៣. នៅថ្ងៃទី៦ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦៖ អគ្គនាយកដ្ឋាន ក.ប.ប. បានចេញលិខិតបង្គាប់ការលេខ ៤៤៣ អ.កបប ចុះថ្ងៃទី៦ ខែឧសភា ឆ្នាំ២០២៦ ដោយតម្រូវឱ្យលោក គឹម ប្រុស មកបំពេញការងារនៅនាយកដ្ឋានកិច្ចការប្រកួតប្រជែង នៃទីស្នាក់ការកណ្តាលអគ្គនាយកដ្ឋាន ក.ប.ប. ដើម្បីបន្តនីតិវិធីរបស់ក្រុមប្រឹក្សាវិន័យនៃក្រសួងពាណិជ្ជកម្ម ស្របតាមច្បាប់ស្តីពី សហលក្ខន្តិកៈមន្ត្រីរាជការស៊ីវិល នៃព្រះរាជាណាចក្រកម្ពុជា។..
