The truth about working in Japan that most YouTubers don't tell you.

It's NOT easy. Let's be honest:
- Your boss might yell, and you can't understand
- After rent, you'll have little money
- Japanese people talk too fast
- Winter will make you sick
- You'll miss your family every day

BUT — Nepalis who prepare well, succeed:
- Build houses in Nepal
- Start their own business
- Get permanent residency in Japan

It IS possible. With the right mindset.

This is from our full packing guide: 10 things every Nepali should bring + the 1 most important thing.

Most Nepalis don't know this:

Your hair dryer, electric razor, and hair iron from Nepal probably WON'T work in Japan.

Why? Nepal uses 230V. Japan uses 100V. Different power.

✅ Check your charger label:
"100-240V" = works in Japan
"230V only" = doesn't work

📱 Most modern phones, laptops, and cameras work fine (they're 100-240V).
But hair dryers, razors, and irons usually don't.

Buy these in Japan instead. UNIQLO is everywhere. Don 'Don Quijote' is cheap.

This is part of our full packing guide: 10 things every Nepali should bring to Japan.

Bringing meat products to Japan can cost you up to ¥3 million in fines — or 3 years in prison.

Most Nepalis don't know this!

❌ Forbidden: meat (ham, sausage, jerky), fresh dairy, fresh fruits & vegetables, and chow chow with meat/egg flavor packets.

✅ OK: dry spices, processed cheese & ghiu (up to 10kg), sealed snacks, dried foods.

Always check your chow chow flavor packet before packing!

any people think they need both JLPT N4 AND JFT-Basic A2. They don't.

For Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa in 15 industries, you only need ONE of them.

JLPT N4 — 2 times/year, paper-based
JFT-Basic A2 — 6 times/year, computer-based

Same level. Different schedule. Pick the one that fits YOUR plan.

This is Path 2 of 5 visa paths to work in Japan.

Want to work in nursing care (Kaigo) in Japan? You need 2 Japanese tests, not 1.

The other 15 SSW industries need only ONE Japanese test (JLPT N4 or JFT-Basic A2).

But for SSW Care, you also need to pass the Nursing Care Japanese Evaluation Test

Care work has a heavier Japanese burden. Know this before you commit.

"Why did you come to Japan?"
"For money!"
…This is the WORST answer you can give in a Japanese job interview.

"जापानमा किन आउनुभयो?"
"पैसाको लागि!"
…यो जापानको इन्टरभ्यूमा दिनसक्ने सबैभन्दा खराब जवाफ हो।

「お金のためです」— 面接で絶対NGな答えです。

In this video, you'll practice the CORRECT way to answer common questions in a Japanese part-time job interview. Designed for JLPT N4-N3 level learners.

⚠️ CRITICAL for student visa holders: A wrong answer to "How many hours can you work?" can cancel your visa and cost you a ¥2,000,000 fine.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
❌ NG Answers — Never Say These
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
❌ "35 hours is OK" (留学生 / for students)

These answers make managers think you're unreliable.
Learn the correct way to answer in this video.

💰 SAVE UP TO 70% ON HEALTH INSURANCE (国民健康保険) — Most Foreigners Don't Know This
Your 国保 bill feels heavy? You might be paying full price when you qualify for a 70%, 50%, or 20% reduction. OFFICIAL — most foreigners never claim it.
⚠️ THE REDUCTION SYSTEM
If household's previous-year income is below limits, premium is automatically reduced:
🔸 70% (lowest income)
🔸 50% (low income)
🔸 20% (moderate income)
Built into Japan's National Health Insurance Law.
⚠️ WHO USUALLY QUALIFIES
✅ Students with no/low part-time income
✅ Newly arrived foreigners
✅ Low-income workers
✅ Single-earner families
✅ People between jobs
For 2026: 70% starts at ~430,000 yen household income or less (single).
⚠️ THE CRITICAL TRAP
Reduction is "automatic" — BUT only if your tax info is filed.
❌ Never filed any tax return → reduction does NOT apply
✅ Even with ZERO income, you MUST file a "zero-income declaration" at city hall
Most foreigners lose the benefit here. They think "no income, nothing to file" — and pay full price.
⚠️ EXTRA REDUCTIONS
🔸 Pregnant/postpartum: 4 months reduced (6 for multiples)
🔸 Pre-school children: 50% extra reduction
🔸 Job loss (layoff/bankruptcy/illness): income calculated at 30% → apply with 雇用保険受給資格者証
⚠️ NEW ARRIVALS / STUDENTS
Came last year? Earned under 1.08 million yen part-time?
🔸 70% reduction possible
🔸 MUST apply at city hall
🔸 Students: re-apply EVERY YEAR
⚠️ WHY THIS MATTERS BEYOND MONEY
Non-payment affects:
🔸 Visa renewal
🔸 Permanent residence application
🔸 Future PR revocation (2027 rule)
Reduction = pay less + on time = perfect record for visa/PR.
✅ WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK
1️⃣ Did you/household head file taxes?
2️⃣ Visit your city hall 国保 window
3️⃣ Ask: "Am I eligible for 7/5/2割軽減?"
4️⃣ Never filed (even zero income)? File NOW
