835th Transportation Battalion

835th Transportation Battalion in Okinawa, Japan, commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Mark A. Yore, received Lieutenant General Kaida, Commanding General of Training, Education, Research and Development Command (TERCOM), Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), and Major General Nemoto, Deputy Chief of Staff for Administration, Western Army, JGSDF, at Naha Military Port for a tour of the facilities. The visit provided the opportunity to present Naha's historic and current capabilities and to highlight the U.S. Army's port operations on Okinawa.

8th Theater Sustainment Command Commanding General Major General Gardner and Command Sergeant Major Morrison visited Lieutenant Colonel Yore and the 835th Transportation Battalion at Naha Military Port during their visit to Okinawa. Major General Gardner recognized two of the unit’s high performers Ms Twitchell, S1, and Mr. Asato, from Terminal Operations. Major Rojek briefed them on some of the U.S. military history relating to Naha Port going back to Commodore Perry’s expeditions in the 1850s. U.S. Army Garrison Okinawa facilitated an explanation of the Naha tug-of-war rope that is being created at the port in preparation for the annual festival.
