Last night (10:30–11:30 pm), while I was on my usual cardio walk in Nachinola, I had a disturbing experience that I feel is important to share.
A man on a scooter approached me and asked if he could drop me somewhere. I clearly told him to leave me alone, but he continued to follow me and repeatedly asked the same question. Feeling unsafe, I took a video of him, after which he sped away.
As I continued walking, I called my neighbour and asked her to stay on the line with me until I reached home safely. A few minutes later, the same man returned, slowed his scooter near me again, and that’s when I managed to note his registration number: GA 03 A4 2934. I made sure to say the number out loud while speaking to my neighbour on the phone. He clearly heard this and immediately drove off.
This was a very scary experience and something I’ve never encountered before, especially in areas like Aldona, Nachinola, and Moira, which we all consider safe neighbourhoods.
I’m sharing this here only to create awareness and to urge everyone—especially women—to stay alert, even in places we trust. Please look out for each other and don’t hesitate to speak up or report such behaviour.
Stay safe. 🙏
