🎵 [June 12 Event] “An Evening of Orchestral Music”
A commemorative concert will be held by students from the music program at Kaohsiung Senior High School in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan—one of Hachioji’s international friendship cities.
The program consistently achieves top rankings in national competitions in Taiwan.A joint performance with students from Hachioji Higashi High School, its sister school, is also planned.
We warmly invite you to attend this concert and show your support for the students of both schools. Admission is free.

【Free Gyosei-shoshi (Certified Administrative Procedures Specialist) Consultation】
In our daily lives, we face many challenges. The International Residents Support Desk (042-642-7091) offers consultations for everyday problems. In addition to this advisory service, the desk provides free consultations with a Gyosei-shoshi once a month and with a lawyer four times a year.
The administrative scrivener consultation is scheduled for this Saturday. If you need legal advice, please don’t miss this opportunity!

[Have you applied for the “Soto no Machi Support Benefit”?]
The city has mailed out a letter about a benefit program to support all Hachioji residents affected by rising prices.
📢 Mailed on April 24
For households that had not completed the online application by April 21, letters containing a “Confirmation Form” for postal application were mailed. Please check whether you have received yours.
💰 If you wish to receive the benefit in cash:
If you prefer direct deposit, please fill out the required information on the “Confirmation Form” and return it by mail using the enclosed reply envelope.
※ The benefit amount is 5,000 yen per person.
📱 You can still apply to receive the benefit via “Soto Pay”
If you prefer to receive the benefit via the digital local currency “Soto Pay,” applications must be made online. You will need to install the Soto Pay app on your smartphone and complete user registration.
※ The benefit amount is 6,000 yen worth of points per person, with an additional 1,000 yen for those who choose Soto Pay over cash.
⚠️ Important Notes
👉 This benefit will only be provided upon application.
👉 International residents must attach a copy (image) of their Residence Card (both front and back) when applying.
👉 Please choose one option for the entire household: either Soto Pay or cash.
👉 The application deadline is July 31, 2026 (postmark valid).

⚠️ Bear Sighting Alert in Hachioji City⚠️
There have been recent sightings of wild black bears in Kamiongata-machi and Motohachioji 2-chome in Hachioji City.

📅 Dates & Times:
・May 17, 2026 – around 6:35 PM
・April 29, 2026 – around 8:15 PM

🐻 Details:
・May 17: A mother bear with her cub
・April 29: An adult bear over 1 meter long

📍 Current Situation:
The city has set up a capture trap in Motohachioji 2-chome and plans to install a box trap in Kamiongata-machi.
So far, no human injuries have been reported.
⚠️ Stay Safe:
・Don’t leave food or garbage outside—it can attract bears.
・Avoid going alone near forests or wooded areas, especially early in the morning or at dusk.
・If you encounter a bear, don’t run or approach it—stay calm, keep facing it, and slowly back away.
・If you see a cub in the distance, the mother is likely nearby. Don’t get close or try to take photos—leave the area right away.
📞 If you spot a bear:
Please call the police (110) or contact the Hachioji City Office (Wildlife Damage Management Section) at 042-620-7375 immediately.
