Canada is supporting youth-led action to end gender-based violence in Jamaica.

🇨🇦🤝🇯🇲

Through the Canada-funded WE-Talk for the Reduction of Gender-Based Violence project, WMW Jamaica, in partnership with the Jamaica Youth Advocacy Network - JYAN, brought together approximately 100 young people, ages 16–24, for a youth-centred forum on GBV accountability and advocacy.

Participants strengthened their knowledge, confidence and advocacy skills and contributed to a Youth GBV Call to Action, placing youth voices at the centre of efforts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.

Canada is proud to support young people as they lead change and help build safer, more inclusive communities.

The High Commission of Canada in Jamaica is pleased to partner with the Bluefields Fishermen’s Cooperative and Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre to support ecosystem restoration in the Bluefields Bay Fish Sanctuary and strengthen local capacity to manage this important conservation area.

Through a CAD $750,000 grant, Canada will support the re-establishment of the Cooperative’s office and storage facilities, as well as monitoring and enforcement activities within the fish sanctuary.

Together, we are helping to protect Jamaica’s marine resources and support the communities that depend on them.
