🚨 BREAKING: DRC OPPOSITION LEADER BLOODIED AT PROTEST — AND THE PRESIDENT WANTS A THIRD TERM
Martin Fayulu — one of the Congo's most prominent opposition figures — was left bleeding from the head after violent clashes erupted Friday in Kinshasa.
His crime? Standing against a sitting president who wants to rewrite the constitution to stay in power.
President Félix Tshisekedi's second term ends in 2028. The constitution says: that's it. Two terms. Finish.
But Tshisekedi recently declared he'd accept a third term "if the people wish it" — and now a bill is before the National Assembly that would allow him to amend those very articles blocking his path.
The opposition coalition C64 called a rally outside parliament. What happened next?
🔴 Police fired tear gas into the crowd
🔴 Pro-government thugs from the "Forces of Progress" attacked with stones
🔴 They even stormed Fayulu's own party headquarters
🔴 Some protesters claim they were shot — injuries on both sides confirmed
Fayulu's response? Direct and clear:
"Tshisekedi has associated the Forces of Progress militia with the police to attack unarmed activists."
20 people injured. Blood on the streets of Kinshasa. And a nation already bleeding from M23 rebels in the east and a fresh Ebola outbreak.
This is what happens when a leader decides the constitution applies to everyone — except himself.
Africa has seen this script before. Uganda. Rwanda. Cameroon. Guinea. Now Congo.
The question is: will the people let the ink dry on a new one?
