Vyara town was ruled by Gaekwads of the Princely State of Baroda. The population residing here mainly consists of the Chaudhari, Patel, Shah, Brahmin, Desai, Rana, Panchal, Pancholi, Darji, etc. Vyara is also the birthplace of Amarsingh Chaudhry (died 2003), the ex-Chief Minister of Gujarat State. Vyara is connected via Rail and Road transport. Vyara is about 250 km from Ahemdabad international airport and around 190 km from Vadodara. Tapi District consists of the five Talukas of Songadh, Valod, Vyara, Ucchal and Nizar.
