As part of World Environment Day 2026, NHAI RO Vijayawada celebrated the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive with great enthusiasm at various Toll Plazas across Andhra Pradesh. 🌱

At Kaza Toll Plaza, the programme witnessed the gracious presence of chief guests Shri S. Balaji, Asst. Inspector General of Forests, MOEF&CC, IRO Chennai; Shri C. Murali Krishna, Addl. Director & Scientist-E, MOEF&CC; and Shri R.K. Singh, IES, CGM(T), RO Vijayawada.

The dignitaries highlighted the importance of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and sustainable living for future generations. Saplings were planted at various Toll Plazas with active participation from officials and staff members to promote green cover and environmental responsibility.

As part of regular road safety awareness programmes, a special drive was conducted under the direction of RO Vijayawada, during which 250 helmets were distributed to bike riders. The initiative was carried out with the active support of local police authorities.

To enhance commuter convenience and maintain high hygiene standards across National Highways, is conducting the ‘ ’ till 30th June 2026. National Highway users are encouraged to report any unclean toilet facilities at Toll Plazas.

Fly ash spilling from overloaded transport vehicles on the Visakhapatnam to Kakinada section of NH-16 is creating unsafe driving conditions and causing inconvenience to commuters. The accumulated ash on the carriageway reduces visibility and poses a serious road safety risk to motorists.

Cleaning activities are being undertaken to remove the fly ash deposits and restore safer travel conditions for commuters.
Vehicle operators transporting fly ash are urged to ensure proper covering of loads and adhere to safety norms to prevent such incidents on highways.
